Job Title: X-ray Technician

Job Summary: The X-ray Technician, also known as a Radiologic Technologist, operates X-ray equipment to produce diagnostic images of patients' internal structures. The role involves preparing patients for imaging procedures, ensuring high-quality radiographic images, and maintaining equipment and records.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Preparation:
• Greet and prepare patients for X-ray procedures.
• Explain the imaging process to patients to alleviate concerns and ensure cooperation.
• Position patients accurately to capture the required images while adhering to safety protocols.
• Image Acquisition:
• Operate X-ray equipment to obtain high-quality images of the body as ordered by physicians.
• Follow specific protocols to ensure images meet diagnostic standards.
• Adjust equipment settings based on patient size and type of examination.
• Safety and Compliance:
• Adhere to safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
• Utilize lead shields and other protective devices as necessary.
• Follow infection control procedures to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Equipment Maintenance:
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration of X-ray equipment.
• Troubleshoot and report equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
• Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and safely.
• Documentation and Record Keeping:
• Maintain accurate records of imaging procedures and patient information.
• Ensure images and reports are properly filed and accessible for review.
• Follow protocols for data privacy and security.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnostic imaging.
• Communicate clearly with patients and healthcare team members regarding procedures and results.
• Provide technical support and guidance to less experienced staff as needed.

Qualifications:

• Education: Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Certification: Certification by the any Radiologic Technologists Institute or equivalent.
• Licensure: State licensure as required.
• Experience: Previous experience as an X-ray Technician preferred but not always required; new graduates may be considered.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in operating X-ray and other imaging equipment.
• Strong understanding of radiation safety and patient care.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations effectively.

Working Conditions:

• Typically works in a hospital or clinical setting.
• May involve standing for extended periods and lifting or moving patients.
• Potential exposure to radiation, which is mitigated by safety protocols and protective equipment.
