We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Maintenance Shop Manager to oversee the operations of our maintenance shop in Trinidad and Tobago. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing maintenance and repair activities for trucks and heavy equipment. Our growing company is hiring a workshop manager. Please review the list of responsibilities and qualifications. While this is our ideal list, we may consider candidates who only have some qualifications but sufficient experience and talent.

As a Workshop Manager, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the efficient operation of the workshop and the company's vehicles and motorized equipment. This will involve establishing and maintaining procedures and standards, ensuring all equipment meets operational requirements and is used safely and correctly, managing stock control and ordering spare parts, and providing training and supervision to the employed personnel. Your role will be crucial in maintaining the smooth functioning of our operations.

Responsibilities for workshop manager

1. Coordinate team activities : define and document the planning procedure within the workshop.

2. Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and support a team of mechanics and technicians, fostering a productive and safe work environment.

3. Coordination for Repair of the heavy equipment and trucks

4. Maintenance Planning: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for trucks and heavy equipment to minimize downtime. Leading the Planning Process for Creating Project Baseline and Recovery Plans for the Equipment.

5. Quality Control: Ensure all repairs and maintenance tasks meet industry standards and company guidelines.

6. Inventory Management: Manage inventory of parts and supplies, ensuring availability and timely procurement of necessary items. Must be knowledgeable about Truck and heavy equipment parts.

7. Budget Management: Monitor and control maintenance budgets, optimizing costs without compromising quality.

8. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, parts used, and service reports

9. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance shop efficiency and effectiveness.

10. Experience in either Mechanical or automobile engineering/technology disciplines (Graduate qualifications or highly experienced persons are highly regarded)

11. Have direct management responsibility for 2-4 small internal workshop teams, ensuring that all planned and unplanned maintenance activities are coordinated and executed to the required standard and within agreed company maintenance schedules

12. Ensure tight control of workshop overheads and operational maintenance costs for both internal and external maintenance spends

13. Coordination with Directors for planning the resources and consideration in the resource register

14. Be a key contributor to the fleet's annual Capital refurbishment and new equipment replacement program by working closely with the directors and supervisors

Desirable Qualifications/skills for workshop manager

1. Diploma or certification in Automotive Technology, Heavy Equipment Repair, Diagnosis, or related fields. Advantage for persons with a Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Automobile), including other professional courses complemented with training in Organization and Management of Production and Operations

2. Minimum of 3 -5 Years of work experience in maintenance and repairs of trucks, heavy equipment and managing personnel.

3. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of diagnostic tools, equipment, and repair techniques for heavy machinery.

4. Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

5. Work Ethic: High attention to detail, reliability, and a commitment to providing high-quality service.

6. Provide highlights and action areas to Directors

7. Substantial experience in B2B and B2C marketing activation

8. Team Collaboration skills, result orientation

9. Experience in administrative work

10. IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

11. Fluency in English (Speaking Spanish will be an asset)

12. Mechanical background or expertise with caterpillar heavy equipment /Nissan/International/Mack/Isuzu Trucks.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ?1,100,000.00 - ?1,350,000.00 per year
