Working as part of our team, you will help implement security controls for Cloud and Container environments and mitigate risks to customer facing company applications. VMware builds and destroys nearly 2 million VMs a week maintaining the security of an ever-moving target is our greatest challenge. You will be joining a team of dedicated and passionate security professionals using the latest technology to achieve our goals. We are in the early deployment stages of Cloud and Container security solutions and are looking for a talented security engineer to help with driving our efforts for the adoption and operationalization of these solutions. Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing Within 30 days, partner with Workload Security team members and begin familiarization with the Cloud and Container security solution. Become competent with the project requirements and environments in scope. You will assist with developing project milestones, begin documentation of all related aspects of the project and meet with SOC, IR, Vuln team and application owners to familiarize yourself with project expectations and requirements. Within 60 days, along with the above, become competent with the Cloud and Container security solution and begin onboarding the environments in scope. You will provide day-to-day Workload Security operational support. Within 90 days, along with the above, you will have completed 25% of the onboarding of the Cloud and Container environments. Partner with the vendor and assist in driving the early adopter program/proof of concept of the solution\'s expansions. You will assist with the on-call rotation for Security Engineering support. Within 180 days, along with the above, you will have completed 75% of the onboarding of the Cloud and Container environments in scope and partner with the SOC and IR teams to develop actionable alerts. Within 360 days, along with the above, you will have completed 100% of the onboarding of the Cloud and Container environments in scope. Implemented the solution\'s expansions and work toward maturing the operationalization of the solution for improved security controls based off SOC and IR requirements. The Work: What type of work will you be doing What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis Assist app owners with the deployment of the Cloud and Container solution. Troubleshoot and create documentation for the Cloud and Container solution if none are present. Liaison between the app owners and the vendor, improve processes and procedures, and help app owners implement solutions by following their processes. Monitor and report on the latest with Cloud and Container environments, by partnering with the Cloud Security team. Create Cloud and Container actionable alerts in partnership with SOC and IR. Assist with the day-to-day tasks of our EDR/NGAV solution, including but not limited to, resolving performance impacting issues, policy modifications, endpoint, workload and VM compliance with Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS), Mac OS X, Windows workstation and Windows server OSs. Monitor sensor state compliance, perform sensor troubleshooting. Be escalation for SOC, IR and IT teams. Help to maintain hygiene. Assist team with needed automation efforts where needed. Create Splunk dashboards, as needed, for metrics reporting. Monitor and report on EDR/NGAV ingestion threshold overages, through partnership with the SIEM, SOC and IR teams. Provide recommendations for improvements. What is the leadership like for this role What is the structure and culture of the team like The hiring manager is the Sr. Manager of Workload Security Engineering. The entire Security Engineering team is comprised of different pillars Cloud Security, Email, Network, SIEM and Workload Security. The Workload Security team is comprised 6 members (2 in IST time zone, 1 in Ireland, 1 in EST and 2 in PST) who maintain close relationships with other functional teams across the company. The team provides flexible hours, scheduling to cover each other\'s needs, and encourages open communication within the team and with leadership.
