Position:
Windows Server Analyst Experience: 4-5years : Role Summary:

  • Utilising good verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ensuring all support calls are dealt with within the SLA timescales.
  • Provide day to day global operational activities for Backup/Recovery teams.
  • Responsible for capacity planning and performance analysis of backup and recovery infrastructure.
  • Provide day to day global operational activities for Backup/Recovery teams including administering Enterprise Backup/Restore and archival and retrieval.
  • Create and Manage Dataset, Schedule and Retention Policy.
  • Monitoring AVAMAR/Dell IDPA/HPDP backups and recovering failed backups.
  • Responsible for advanced troubleshooting of Backup/Recovery related issues.
  • Proactive backup maintenance of systems, installing patches, upgrades etc.
  • Good Understanding of tape library and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to identify, interpret and evaluate system and network requirements.
  • Able to produce reports from Dell IDPA/Avamar/HPDP to assist in backup success/failure, capacity planning and consolidation.
  • Active involvement in other areas a per business requirements

Overall Project/Task description
To provide a high quality, proactive infrastructure support and management service to a large multi-client community as part of a customer focused support team. Working to contracted SLAs and delivering best in class services to our customers.
Specialising in the Backup Technology area, the Analyst has responsibility for ensuring the effective operation and availability of the supported infrastructure for both external and Internal customers. Working within the ITIL process guidelines the team is responsible for Infrastructure incident management, capacity management and monitoring as well as reducing the number of Incidents logged though proactive problem management.
To deal with support calls and implement technical change/project work for our client in an efficient and timely manner. Working to contracted SLAs delivering best in class service to the customer. To proactively manage the complete IT infrastructure including the Servers, Email, Security and Antivirus.

Qualification Criteria/Work Experience Essential:
  • Experience in Dell IDPA systems and HP Data Protector backup solutions.
  • Ability to work under a process centric ITIL Framework.
  • Excellent communication and client facing/customer service skills.
  • 3+ years hands-on experience in an Enterprise level backup system and Multi-site replication experience.
  • Creating and modifying backup policies and configuring new and existing backup clients.
  • Support of backup clients for multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, OSSP) and applications (SQL, Oracle, mysql).
  • Comfortable using either GUI or CLI
  • Experience with vSphere 7
  • Basic Windows and/or Linux Admin skills.
  • Tape library understanding and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of Virtual Infrastructure & Components of Build
  • Understanding of network environments, LAN/WAN technologies and TCP/IP
  • Ability to quickly analyze & diagnose technical problems.

Technologies Hands-on Experience (Years) Priority
Windows 3+ 1 Active Directory 3+ 1 Backup (IDPA) 3+ 1 VMware vSphere / Hyper V 1+ 2 Exchange 1+ 2
Desirable:
  • Working knowledge of another backup technology
  • Basic understanding of Network infrastructure i.e. routing, DNS, etc
  • Previous working experience within large scale Data Centre environments
  • Maintaining vSphere Production environment using VMware vCenter.
  • Managing Virtual machines i.e. adding/deleting VM's
  • Work with technical teams and end users to resolve application issues
  • Concepts on different storage technologies like DAS, NAS and SAN.
  • Knowledge in Scripting and Automation.
