Job Description

A welder-fitter is a skilled tradesperson who specializes in welding and fitting metal components to create various structures, machinery, and equipment. Their primary responsibilities include:

• Reading blueprints and drawings : Welder-fitters must be able to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand the requirements of a project.
• Measuring and cutting : They measure and cut metal components using various tools such as torches, plasma cutters, and saws to precise specifications.
• Welding : Welder-fitters use different welding techniques such as MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and stick welding to join metal parts together securely.
• Fitting : They fit and align metal components according to specifications using techniques such as clamping, tack welding, and bolting.
• Grinding and finishing : After welding, welder-fitters grind and finish welded surfaces to ensure smoothness and remove any imperfections.
• Inspecting and quality control : They inspect finished workpieces to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. This involves checking for defects, accuracy of measurements, and structural integrity.
• Maintaining equipment : Welder-fitters are responsible for maintaining welding equipment and tools in good working condition, including cleaning, lubricating, and performing basic repairs.
• Safety compliance : They adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment. This includes wearing appropriate protective gear and following safety guidelines for handling hazardous materials and operating machinery.
• Collaboration : Depending on the size of the project, welder-fitters may work independently or as part of a team, collaborating with other tradespeople such as fabricators, machinists, and engineers.
• Documentation : They may be required to maintain records of work performed, including materials used, hours worked, and any issues encountered during the fabrication process.

Pay: ?30,000.00 - ?35,000.00 per month
