Policies, Processes & Procedures
Assist in formulation of Material Management plan and ensure day-to-day execution in line with function standards & regulations
Monitor day-to-day activities to ensure compliance with stipulated SOPs, approved policies and procedures & approved safety standards
Benchmark industry trends in logistics/ storage/ warehouse management and make analysis-based improvement recommendations (cost reduction, productivity improvement, etc.) keeping external influences (legislation, fuel costs, environmental pressures etc.) in mind e.g. automation of IT systems like (Barcode, Product label, RFID, scanners etc.
Co-ordinate with 3rd party for inspections & HSEF & various management system audits and take corrective actions as per requirement
Warehouse Operations
Oversee end-to-end operations, receipt, warehousing & dispatch, of all automated & manual warehouse facilities, ensuring safe maintenance and up-keeping
Ensure availability of resources and equipment\'s to meet dispatch target & maintain optimum inventory pipeline
Resolve high level escalations concerning logistic/ warehouse/ distribution activities and customer issues by understanding issues from internal team and taking decisions on excise, transportation & customer requirements
Collaborate with Bagging, Laboratory, Business Group, Business Transportation, SCM, Security & Excise for early clearance of despatch in order to meet business targets
Review & act on unsafe act/ working condition by contractors staff & truck drivers
Oversee the utilization of SAP systems, including EWM, TAS, and WMS, to optimize warehouse processes and inventory management.
Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials, including the purchase of consumables and necessary supplies
Ensure meticulous documentation for all incoming and outgoing products, maintaining accurate records and compliance with documentation standards.
Safety & Compliance
Lead and implement contingency management and emergency response protocols and ensure compliance with safety procedures, processes, and regulatory requirements, fostering a culture of workplace safety.
Perform regular audits and cycle counts, identifying and addressing inventory discrepancies promptly.
Oversee any fire, leak, spillage or safety incident which may potentially lead to injury or loss of production, and take appropriate action to mitigate such risks
Review cases of any potential safety, fire and environmental issues/ hazards, identify root cause and take appropriate steps to mitigate any challenges
Monitor contractor staff and truck drivers for unsafe acts/conditions, conducting safety audits and adhering to safety protocols.
Track all compliance/ legal norms and documentations required from safety, fire and environmental point of view and ensure up to date filing of the same
Conduct regular inspections of all installed equipment to ensure functionality and compliance with safety standards
People Management
Participate in recruitment activities & ensure retention / engagement of own team
Set performance objectives of own team, evaluate / appraise team members and provide regular feedback & guidance
Guide, mentor and develop own team to take larger and complex responsibilities
Evaluate training and development requirements for own team and make recommendations for learning interventions
Lead the performance management process for both contracted personnel and internal team members, setting clear performance objectives, expectations, and KPIs.
