Role Summary/Purpose: The Vice President, Solution Architect craves working in a hands-on system design and architecture environment and leads by example to make sure time sensitive projects get done on time and to specifications. To be successful in this role, deep expertise in PayMyBill Systems (MFE, API, Batches), solutions integrating with critical channels and partner apps, treasury process, production triage expertise, and Java API development skills are a must. This VP will lead the development and the production support of PayMyBill applications by creating and developing thoughtful solutions to anticipate bugs and maintain operational excellence. Do you consider UX in your decision making, and think like a customer Have tech chops: Boasting Java API expertise, experience communicating with customers & cross functional teams, and excellent triaging skills are key for this role We\'ll depend on you to: Influence many agile development teams through all phases of the Agile development life cycle through SAFE Implement new technologies and assist developers as they migrate to new technologies Architect applications across the full stack, experience in PCF, Cloud Native Application Architecture, Microservices ecosystem, J2EE, Spring Java, and RESTful APIs are a must. Document the same and educate team on Solutions Design data models to support complex business processes Drive a CI/CD strategy using our Jenkins, Bitbucket, and uDeploy stack. Influence and collaborate with software developers, UX designers, product managers, application architects, and customer application experts to create amazing apps. Mentor and influence all levels of the team: in this role, you will have the opportunity to influence up and down the chain of command Ensure compliance with architecture, security and technology standards set by Synchrony Financial Assist in crafting and maintaining the future state technology architectural strategy, along with our application modernization and migration roadmap. Participate in Agile scrums consisting of cross-functional teams Lead Agile sprints as technical expert, including sprint planning, daily standups, backlog grooming sessions, and sprint reviews Ensure application code quality through development, test, and QA Participate in addressing root cause analyses, incident reports and provide direction in problem resolution Ability to analyze production defects, troubleshoot systems, identify root cause, and implement fixes Passionate about the latest technologies, open-source projects and languages Provide 24x7 on-call support periodically throughout the year Identify ways to increase efficiency and improve system performance Work with third party vendors to develop software and/or integrate their software into the company\'s products Participate in Solution\'s Architecture CoP and contribute to Architecture improvements Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor\'s degree in computer science or related degree with modern application development experience, with a minimum 10 years of experience in Technology, or in lieu of a degree 12+ years\' experience in Technology Minimum 3+ years in Solutions Architecture. Experience in Architecting Solutions in a Scaled Agile Framework Good Understanding of Synchrony Business and its functions. Knowledge on multiple domains is a plus Strong Technical Expertise in Java, Spring Projects - Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring Cloud, Spring Batch, Git, Maven, REST, Gradle, Rest Assured, Caching Solutions like Gemfire Strong Experience in developing microservices with 12-factor app methodology Strong Experience in Distributed Architecture with acumen for Monitoring and Incident Management leveraging tools like Splunk, New Relic Working Experience with Scaled Agile Framework, and familiarity with tools like JIRA Strong Experience with CICD Pipeline, Process and Tools Strong Experience writing unit and integration tests and familiarity with frameworks like Junit, Mockito, Spring Test Strong desire to develop high quality code with ability to review and leverage quality check tools like Sonar Familiarity in designing application using SOLID principles, Java and microservice design patterns with business acumen Familiarity with Cloud Platform like Pivotal Cloud Foundry Familiarity with Behavior Driven Development and API Test Automation Familiarity with Domain Driven Design, Even Driven Architecture Working knowledge in RDBMS Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical peers Strong cross-functional team player with the ability to work seamlessly across a matrix organization Strong attention to detail in a team environment Strong oral and written communication, analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to analyze, use structured problem solving and available tools to troubleshoot systems, identify root cause, action plans, impact and resolution options Passionate to learn and understand diversified business domains and technologies Ability to quickly learn new technologies and frameworks For Internal Applicants: Understand the criteria or mandatory skills required for the role, before applying.
