Organizational SettingThe FAO India office promotes food security, nutrition, agriculture and rural development (FSNARD), sustainable natural resource management (NRM) and climate change mitigation and/or adaptation (CCM/A) in India, while assisting both Federal and State Governments and country stakeholders, development partners with the strategic planning and implementation of their assistance to achieve sustainable development, climate resilient agriculture, growth, poverty alleviation, food security and nutrition goals that lead to more efficient, sustainable, inclusive and resilient agrifood systems. The FAO India office partners with governments, international financing institutions, national and international organizations, the private sector, research institutions, academia, and producer organizations to improve the quality and quantity of agrifood development. Our main areas of work include support to strategic investment planning and policy, public and private investments, and innovative finance as well as the implementation of donor-funded projects. These are complemented by capacity development for donor-funded programmes that serve to share knowledge more widely and position FAO India as a trusted development partner among key stakeholders.The office promotes a multidisciplinary working environment, which leads to strategy and business development, knowledge management, communication, and administration.Reporting LinesUnder the direct supervision of the FAO Representative in India and guidance of the Communication and Knowledge Management Specialist, the Visual Communication Specialist will undertake the following duties.Technical FocusExpertise in visual and development communication.Tasks and responsibilities

  • Work with the FAO communication team and project members to develop communication materials for all FAO projects to ensure uniform brand identity and visibility.
  • Familiarize with FAO\'s corporate communications policy and operational guidelines to ensure mandatory coherence of all communication and information outputs.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of thematic and country specific communications plans for campaigns or key priorities such as the World Food Day, International Year, Four Betters, etc.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of FAOSTYLE in drafting visual documentation without the need for continuous correction or oversight.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of campaigns, events and activities to promote programmes visibilities.
  • Identify, develop and design the information, communication, project visibility and awareness\xc2\xac raising materials (posters, briefers, e-cards, videos, presentations, publications etc.) for FAOIN projects using professional design software.
  • Coordinate with the communication team to develop design plan for all FAO advocacy events and develop communication products.
  • Manage communication products/outputs produced through the Publication Workflow System (PWS) approval process including coordination of logo and copyright permissions
  • Develop visual communications for FAOIN website and social media.
  • Liaise with the FAO\'s Office of Communications (OCC) to ensure that all communications and information outputs comply with FAO\'s corporate communications policies and guidelines, following appropriate review and clearance processes.
  • Collaborate on the production of video and motion graphic animations.
  • Guide state-level communication officers in visual communication, including providing training, mentoring and monitoring.
  • Ensure all FAO staff in India adhere to brand guidelines for all communication material used for internal and external engagement.
  • Coordinate with external design agencies, as and when required to provide design inputs as per communication material, target audience and other specifications.
  • Perform any other related duties

  • Liaison with OCC will be maintained, either directly or through an agreed focal point/coordinator, to ensure compliance with OCC standards, aligned messaging, and appropriate review and clearance processes.

  • University degree/technical diploma in visual communication or related fields.
  • At least five years of relevant experience in visual communication.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud application for print and web production. (Knowledge of the use video production software such as Adobe Premiere and After Effects is not compulsory but would be preferable).
