At Springer Production Technology we are responsible for the tools needed for publishing, working in close collaboration with our users to constantly test and improve the complex processes involved. Being part of Emerging Technology, we actively investigate how new technical opportunities like AI can help our users in their daily work. We are seeking a talented and motivated Junior UX Designer to join our design team. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and a passion for understanding user needs. As a Junior UX Designer, you will work closely with our UX Researcher in Pune to create engaging and effective user experiences. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your skills and contribute to meaningful projects. The job is based in our Pune hub, with the members of our UX team stationed across Europe and Asia. We offer hybrid working - from the office 3 days per week.What you\'ll be doingYou will be a champion for the customer, creating experiences that align with the goals and vision of Springer Nature Production Technology, and deliver user-centred design solutions.Within 3 monthsGet settled:

  • Learn about the Springer Nature group, the Production Technology department and the various domains.
  • Understand the Production domain, meet stakeholders and grasp the background and
context of various projects.
  • Begin to work with the UX Lead and UX Researcher and get to know your design peers/community.
  • Research - Familiarise yourself with what has been done till date, gathering the
context and history of it.
  • Design - Familiarise yourself with the existing processes and make contributions were
possible.Within 6 monthsBe involved:
  • Design - Work with the UX Researcher and project teams, to plan and conduct continuous discovery, transforming ideas and findings to mock-ups and prototypes.
  • Deliver - Move your designs to development. Collaborate with developers. Facilitate the process of delivery, prioritization, reviews and critique.
  • Collaborating regularly with the UX designers, UX Researcher and UI developers.
  • Take the lead on UX Design within your projects, provide design direction.
  • Actively participate in the UX community.
6 months +Make an impact:
  • You have a clear picture of the Production landscape and know where there are gaps and assumptions lie. You know the relative risk and potential effort of each that is clearly laid out in a plan for the foreseeable future.
  • Be involved in strategy planning sessions that help shape the products and their direction, by being the voice of, and expert on the user, through your design and research work.
  • Be proactive within your team, with the wider UX community and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with UX Researcher: Work closely with the UX Researcher to understand user needs, pain points, and behaviours through various research methods including user interviews, surveys, and usability testing.
  • Design and Prototyping: Create wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes that effectively communicate design ideas. Use UX design tools such as
. * User-Cantered Design: Apply user-centred design principles to develop intuitive and accessible interfaces that meet user needs and business objectives.
  • Iterative Design Process: Participate in design reviews and iterate on designs based on feedback from stakeholders and usability testing.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including product managers, developers, and other designers to ensure cohesive and consistent user experiences across all products.
  • Stay Current: Keep up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continually enhance design skills and knowledge.
  • Documentation: Assist in creating and maintaining design documentation, including design specifications, style guides, and user flows.
Qualifications:
  • You have 3+ years of UX Design experience in a mid-level capacity with at least 1 year of experience in UX Design on a task heavy related application, including internships or freelance work.
  • You have a design portfolio (website or PDF) demonstrating critical thinking, analysis and sound decision-making as well as diverse UX methods and techniques.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, or similar. Basic understanding of HTML/CSS is a plus.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing design process and examples of wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes.
  • Strong proficiency in English, both written and oral, with the ability to articulate design decisions clearly.
