Position Summary:

The Upholstery Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the upholstery department. This includes managing a team of upholsterers, ensuring production schedules are met, maintaining quality standards, and optimizing workflow and processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in upholstery and furniture manufacturing, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision and Leadership:

Manage and lead a team of upholsterers, providing guidance, training, and support.

Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, updates, and expectations.

Foster a positive and productive work environment.

Production Management:

Plan and oversee the production schedule to ensure timely completion of projects.

Monitor workflow and adjust staffing as necessary to meet production targets.

Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless production processes.

Quality Control:

Ensure all upholstered products meet the company's quality standards.

Implement and maintain quality control procedures.

Conduct regular inspections and audits of the upholstery work.

Process Improvement:

Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency and productivity.

Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in upholstery techniques and materials.

Collaborate with the production manager to develop and implement best practices.

Safety and Compliance:

Ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols and company policies.

Conduct regular safety training and maintain a safe working environment.

Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Inventory and Equipment Management:

Oversee the inventory of upholstery materials and supplies.

Ensure proper maintenance and operation of all upholstery equipment.

Coordinate with the purchasing department to maintain adequate inventory levels.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in upholstery, furniture manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in upholstery, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Strong knowledge of upholstery techniques, materials, and equipment.

Excellent leadership and team management skills.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:

This position may require standing for extended periods and lifting heavy materials.

Work is primarily conducted in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and other elements typical of a production facility.
