It accelerates progress towards realizing the human rights of all children, which is the universal mandate of UNICEF, as outlined by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, while also supporting the equitable development of nations.Context:As part of UNICEF India's WASH strategy, the India Country Office (ICO) aims to specifically contribute to a dedicated global goal on water and sanitation (SDG6), which sets out to ensure "availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation to now cover the entire water cycle, including the management of water, wastewater and ecosystem resources. SDG 6 has strong linkages to all of the otherThe UN Volunteer will support the WASH-CCES Section in areas of WASH & CCES programme planning, monitoring, research, evaluation, knowledge management, and financial management.Task description:1. Planning and Monitoring:
a. Annual Reporting and Work Plan Development:

  • Assist in creating and finalizing WASH and CCES rolling work plan.
  • Update monitoring plans, conduct situation analyses, and identify data sources for internal reporting, Core Standard Indicators, and annual reports.
b. Donor Reporting and Monitoring:
  • Support development and update monitoring frameworks for donor reporting.
  • Create process monitoring frameworks and innovative methods for on-field monitoring and reporting.
  • Perform data analysis and prepare dashboards.
c. Strengthening Government Data Systems:
  • Review data on sanitation, water, hygiene, and climate change from MIS and national surveys to identify key deprivations and gaps.
  • Support development of advocacy notes with the Ministry and state governments on SDG target monitoring and reporting.
  • Develop rapid needs assessment tools and questionnaires.
2. Research and Evaluation:
  • Support development of TORs for research and evaluations, review draft reports, and coordinate with research partners.
  • Coordinate with state offices for monitoring evidence work and disseminate research findings using infographics and topline summaries.
3. Knowledge and Financial Management:
  • Maintain the ECM site of the WASH-CCES network and provide support in hosting webinars on knowledge sharing.
  • Document good practices in programming and monitoring at the state and section levels.
  • Assist in developing the India Country Office Newsletter and other knowledge-sharing publications.
4. Admin Support:
  • Assist in admin and operations services for the WASH & CCES section, including facilities and logistics management.
Requirements:the development sector. Hands-on experience in monitoring or working in research is an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of the WASH sector in India, with some experience in climate change work being beneficial.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with experience in conducting research studies and developing case studies or human-interest stories.
  • Proficiency in using Google Forms, Excel, PowerPoint, ODK platforms, and other open-source software for data collection is desirable.

Required education level:Bachelor degree or equivalentOther information: New Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region is a large and bustling metropolis of some 14 million people undergoing rapid changes. The capital city is an administrative, cultural and commercial center with modern amenities and well connected by air. It is a safe place with large expatriate community drawn from embassies, UN agencies, MNCs and foreign businesses. It has short moderate winter and long hot summer.As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in New Delhi. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions.The contract lasts for the period indicated above with possibility of extensions subject to availability of funding, operational necessity and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectation of renewal of the assignment.The applicable Volunteer Living Allowance is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents - except for UN Community Volunteers), as well as final repatriation (if applicable).
