Underwriting ManagerXLICSE, India Reinsurance BranchMumbai, IndiaXLICSE is an Ireland domiciled insurer with branches throughout the EU, as well as Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and India. It primarily writes property, casualty and specialty insurance and facultative reinsurance for large national and multinational corporations and leading insurance companies. XLICSE is part of AXA XL (a division of AXA group) which also operates in several jurisdictions worldwide.Having obtained the certificate of registration from IRDAI to operate as a reinsurance branch located in Mumbai in 2017, the branch is well positioned to effectively develop and service clients of AXA XL in India.As Underwriting Manager of the India Reinsurance Branch, you will set the strategy and direction for the team around industry and geographic segmentation aligned to Asia Strategic plan, AXA XL pricing and underwriting guidelines, distribution strategy and product offering.You will perform the role of Chief Underwriting Officer which is a Key Management Position regulated under the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) and is also a regulated role under the Central Bank of Irelands Fitness and Probity regime. As a Key Management Personnel (KMP), you will also be a member of the branch executive committee which is responsible for formulating the overall strategy and direction as well as overseeing the management of the branch.DISCOVER your opportunityWhat will your essential responsibilities include?\xc2\xb7 Work closely with the Chief Executive Officer to re-establish AXA XL reputation and presence in India.\xc2\xb7 Develop and implement underwriting strategies, ensure sound underwriting practices, manage risk exposure and drive profitable growth.\xc2\xb7 Oversee the underwriting process and ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.\xc2\xb7 Manage risk exposure by evaluating and pricing insurance policies appropriately.\xc2\xb7 Lead and mentor underwriting teams, providing guidance and training to ensure high performance and development.\xc2\xb7 Work closely with product heads in Asia to leverage expertise, drive business growth and innovation.\xc2\xb7 Monitor underwriting results and performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.\xc2\xb7 Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions and regulatory changes to inform underwriting decisions and strategies.\xc2\xb7 Foster strong relationships with reinsurance partners and underwriting agencies to optimize risk management and capacity.\xc2\xb7 Drive growth through effective planning and execution, identify new markets and further develop existing markets.You will report to Chief Executive Officer with a secondary reporting to Head of International Financial Lines Asia.QualificationsSHARE your talentWere looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:\xc2\xb7 Established Underwriter with proven experience in underwriting leadership within the insurance, in general insurance or reinsurance industry preferred. In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.\xc2\xb7 Leadership: Role model by setting a high bar for performance, engagement and commitment. Well experienced in managing a team. Takes initiative and has the ability to lead independently, as well as inspiring success and advancing talent and culture.\xc2\xb7 Excellent verbal and written communication and influencing skills. Able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of sophistication. Ability to work in a changing environment and navigate the matrix organization.\xc2\xb7 Collaborative: Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in country, Asia and the Business Unit.
