The Underwriter is responsible for assessing the risk of a borrower being able to repay their mortgage to the lender, decision the loan adhering to the regulatory guidelines and company policy &, procedures as well.
Job Duties:
• Underwrite and decision loans to comply with state and federal regulations. Should be able to underwrite all Tiers, including complex loan transactions.
• Maintain client SLA expectations:
• Achieves individual Underwriter quality benchmarks
• Achieves individual production goals and turn times.
• Knowledge of Conventional & non-QM
• Must know Fannie &Freddie guidelines.
• Ensuring compliance with company policies and guidelines.
• Analyze appraisal report and collateral offered in the loan application to determine acceptability and appropriate loan-to-value ratios for decisions.
• Perform Income calculation, debt to income ratios, review/analyze complex asset statements, financial statements, as well as personal and business income tax returns to render a decision.
• Analyze and review title opinions for decisioning on all loan applications.
• Documenting and effectively communicating reasons for the approval/rejection of loans.
• Decision and review completion of the required conditions to approve loan and communicate requirements to appropriate parties.

• Successful experience working as an Live Underwriter for minimum 2 years
• Must be detail-oriented and can comprehend and effectively communicate
Education and/or Experience:
• Graduation
• 2+ years mortgage underwriting experience (front-end live UW)
Language Skills:
• Strong written & verbal communication
• Proficiency in reading, writing & understanding English language
• Ability to read, and interpret borrower documentation, company policies, procedures, guidelines, reports, and legal documents. Individual must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients.
• Strong email etiquette
