Job Title : Transport In-Charge

Job Summary
The Transport In-Charge is responsible for managing the school's transportation system to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient travel for students and staff. This includes coordinating bus schedules, overseeing the maintenance of vehicles, managing drivers, and ensuring all safety protocols and regulatory standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
• Transportation Management
• Plan and manage bus routes, stops, and schedules to optimize time and ensure prompt pickup and drop-off for students.
• Coordinate transportation for school events, field trips, and other special activities as required.
• Safety and Compliance
• Ensure all school vehicles comply with local and national safety regulations and are well-maintained and roadworthy.
• Conduct regular safety checks and inspections on all vehicles.
• Implement and monitor safety protocols for boarding, travel, and disembarking.
• Staff Supervision
• Recruit, train, and supervise drivers and support staff for the transportation department.
• Monitor drivers' performance and ensure they adhere to safety guidelines and regulations.
• Conduct regular training sessions for drivers on safety practices, first aid, and emergency protocols.
• Maintenance and Repair Coordination
• Oversee the regular maintenance and repair of all school vehicles, coordinating with mechanics or service providers as needed.
• Maintain a detailed record of maintenance schedules, repairs, and vehicle logs.
• Budget Management
• Prepare and manage the transportation department's budget, including costs related to fuel, repairs, maintenance, and staff salaries.
• Maintain records of all expenses and provide regular reports to the administration.
• Communication and Coordination
• Act as a liaison between the school administration, parents, and transportation staff regarding any transportation issues.
• Handle transportation-related inquiries, complaints, or emergency situations.
• Record Keeping
• Maintain detailed logs of student transportation records, vehicle maintenance, and driver performance.
Qualifications and Skills
• Education : Bachelor's degree in management, logistics, or a related field (preferred).
• Experience : Minimum of 3 years in transportation management, preferably in a school or educational institution.
• Skills :
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of transportation safety and regulatory standards
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with fleet management software (preferred)
