• Conduct preliminary eye exams and screenings under the supervision of a licensed optometrist.
• Assist with visual acuity testing, refraction, and other diagnostic tests as directed.
• Record patient history, test results, and observations accurately in medical records.
• Prepare examination rooms and equipment for patient visits.
• Assist optometrists during exams and minor procedures.
• Learn and apply the proper techniques for handling ophthalmic instruments and equipment.
• Guide patients through tests and procedures, explaining each step clearly.
• Provide patients with instructions on proper contact lens care, eyeglass use, and eye health maintenance.
• Address basic patient questions and refer complex inquiries to supervising optometrists.
• Maintain accurate patient files and ensure that all test results and notes are documented correctly.
• Help in managing inventory, including ordering supplies and tracking equipment usage.
• Attend training sessions, workshops, and any additional educational programs provided by the hospital.
• Stay updated on new optometric techniques, tools, and best practices.
• Participate actively in supervised patient care to enhance skills and gain hands-on experience.
