AM/Manager Tool room

A Tool Room Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the production of precision components, tools, molds, and related products. This role involves managing various aspects of the manufacturing process, from production planning and quality control to team supervision and resource management and is responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of the tool room.

Job Responsibilities

• Production Planning and Scheduling:
• Develop and execute Tooling schedules to meet the Development deadlines.
• Responsible for making the workflow and processes related to manufacturing of new tools, maintenance of existing tools, and carrying out the production activity.
• Monitor the workflow, allocate resources, and adjust schedules as needed to optimize productivity.
• Quality Control:
• Establish and enforce quality control processes to ensure products meet or exceed industry standards.
• Implement inspection and testing procedures to maintain the quality and consistency.

3. Resource Management:

Allocate materials, equipment, and manpower effectively to meet production requirements.

4. Team Leadership:

Recruit, train, and supervise a team of tool and die makers, machine operators, and technicians.

Set performance goals, provide training and feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.

5. Process Improvement:

Continuously evaluate manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.

Maintaining 5S on the shop floor and carrying out Kaizens that help in cost reduction or production improvement.

Implement lean manufacturing principles and best practices to optimize operations.

6. Cost Control:

Monitor project costs and budgets, and take actions to control expenses.

Explore cost-saving measures and efficiencies in processes.

7. Safety and Compliance:

Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to safety regulations.

Maintain compliance with industry standards and certifications.

8. Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of production data, inventory, and quality control reports.

Generate regular reports on production performance and key metrics.

Maintain trackers to check the daily, weekly, and monthly data related to the production of components, production of moulds, quality records, rejections, etc.

9. Tool and Equipment Maintenance:

Oversee the maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment and machinery, ensuring optimal functionality.

Coordinate with the engineering teams to minimize downtime.

10. Communication and Collaboration:

Collaborate with production managers, engineers, and other departments to understand tooling requirements and prioritize tool allocation.

Communicate any tool-related issues or delays that could impact production schedules.

Effective coordination with the molding department to keep track of testing of new moulds, thereby making data pertaining to T1, T2, T3 etc trials.

Requirements and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in BTECH (mechanical), DPMT, NTTF, Indo Swiss, Indo Danish, Indo German Tool rooms (Diploma)
• Proven experience of 10 years in tool and die manufacturing, with a strong understanding of precision machining processes.
• Preferred industry: high precision telecom products manufacturing companies, Medical equipment manufacturing companies, automobile industry, etc.
• Leadership and team management skills.
• In-depth knowledge of tool & die design and making, VMC and EDM machining, conventional machining, and related technologies.
• Knowledge about different materials for mold components and their properties.
• Quality control and quality assurance expertise.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
