Theatre Scrub Nurse
Job Description
preparing instruments and equipment needed for surgery; maintaining sterility throughout the procedure; and passing instruments to the surgeon while anticipating their needs. Before surgery, the scrub nurse ensures the equipment is checked and theater cleaned. During surgery, the scrub nurse provides sponges, passes instruments, removes charred tissue, and notifies the circulating nurse if additional tools are needed. At the end of surgery, the scrub nurse counts sponges and instruments with the circulating nurse, clears equipment, and helps prepare the patient for recovery.
