Key Responsibilities:Instruction and Curriculum Development:
• Lesson Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that cover language skills, literature, and composition according to the curriculum.
• Teaching: Deliver engaging and effective lessons on various aspects of English, including grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, and literary analysis.
• Curriculum Development: Create and update teaching materials, including textbooks, worksheets, and multimedia resources to enhance the learning experience.
Assessment and Evaluation:
• Student Assessment: Design and administer quizzes, tests, assignments, and projects to assess student understanding and progress in English.
• Grading: Evaluate student work and provide constructive feedback to help students improve their language and literary skills.
• Progress Reports: Prepare and maintain accurate records of students' academic performance and progress reports for parents and school administration.
Classroom Management:
• Environment: Maintain a positive and disciplined classroom environment that fosters learning and encourages student participation.
• Behavior Management: Implement effective strategies for managing classroom behavior and addressing any issues that arise.
Student Support:
• Individual Attention: Provide additional support to students who need extra help with English language and literature concepts.
• Mentorship: Offer guidance and support to students interested in pursuing further studies in English or related fields.
Professional Development:
• Training: Stay current with the latest developments in English language teaching and literature through professional development opportunities.
• Collaboration: Work with other teachers and staff to develop interdisciplinary projects and enhance the overall educational experience.
Administrative Duties:
• Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and other relevant information.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to school policies, educational standards, and health and safety regulations.
Extracurricular Activities:
• Clubs and Events: Participate in or supervise extracurricular activities related to English, such as debate clubs, literary societies, or writing competitions.
Parent and Community Interaction:
• Communication: Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and academic concerns.
• Engagement: Engage with the community to promote and support English education and related activities.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Literature, Education, or a related field. A B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) or equivalent teaching qualification is often required.
• Experience: Prior teaching experience at the secondary level is preferred.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of English language and literature, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to engage and motivate students.
