Mission The Failure Analysis engineer will be responsible for: Root Cause analysis, Cross Section examination, material validation and so on, in charge of the promotion and the good application of design rules, standards, definition of training needs and to offer the right support. Main responsibilities

• Technical missions

o In relation with Laboratory in France, analyse job request and define analysis protocol
o Select appropriate equipment and laboratory to perform analysis
o Achieve/Manage Sample preparation:

• cutting,
• resin,
• polishing : down to 3\xce\xbcm diamond, and colloidal silica solution
• metallization, plasma deposition: Gold, Palladium, Carbon....
• Reveal microstructure: Chemical delineation (Adler attack solution)

o Pilot macroscopic inspection with the selected laboratory: Binocular analysis, Optical microscopy analysis,
Scanning electron microscopy and so on
o Pilot microscopic analysis with the selected laboratory: Electron Dispersive Spectroscopy elemental
chemical analysis.
o Analyse results of macroscopic and microscopic inspection: analyse quality of the images, react with
laboratory if parameters are not corrects, to comment images and give orientation
o Achieve or Manage Vickers Hardness measurements, according to standard.
o Identify additional analysis necessary for deeper investigation when necessary: surface analysis XPS, AES,
3D XRAY, CSAM, etc.....
o Provide metrics about activities
o In future:

• interpret analysis results: figure out problems, propose failure mechanism schemes, etc....
• Propose solutions to improve efficiency and reduce issues
• Define best practices and design rules, coming from analysis in order to improve efficiency and

reduce the issues.

• General missions

o Should have knowledge on executing tasks in project management mode
o Drive and monitor the Material Analysis activities
o Provide analysis reports in accordance with existing templates
o Support project teams for all Valeo Business Group team
o Involved in the domain meetings via technical presentations.
o Involved in the technology watch, the research and the deployment of innovative analysis and in order to
maintain the excellence in the domain
o Build credibility to the project teams for all Valeo Business Group team. Education Master Engineering : Mechanical / Materials
Spoken language: English / Fluent, French / a plus Working environment Result Orientation
Customer Orientation (internal and external) with multidisciplinary teams: mechanical, electronic, layout, simulation team
International Mindset
Travel for short period in France, and in Europe occasionally Skills Experience - 5 to 7 Years
Hands on experience on Material Analysis Equipment, SEM, Optical System and so on
