Description Temporary Faculty Pool Department of Mathematics College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences Position Description The Department of Mathematics at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), invites highly qualified, motivated, and well-organized, applicants for a pool of part-time teaching appointments. Courses in the mathematics option of the major are generally offered in the morning. Courses in the mathematics education option of the major and Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics are generally offered at night to accommodate the needs of working students. The mathematics major and minor prepare students for exciting and rewarding work in industry, careers in teaching, and for advanced post-baccalaureate study. Our calculus, differential equations, analysis, and probability and statistics courses enable science students to analyze data and predict outcomes in static and dynamic situations. Our foundations, discrete math and algebra courses give students the tools they need for rigorous logical and structural analysis and a deep conceptual understanding of quantitative situations. Our mathematics education courses prepare students to be outstanding teacher leaders with a deep knowledge of mathematics and the best practices in teaching. Our general education courses give the general student the mathematical background she or he needs to function in life as an educated and informed citizen in an increasingly quantitative and data-driven world. For more information: https://www.math.csudh.edu/ The Position The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available. Responsibilities Teach assigned upper division courses in the department\'s curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load. Qualifications Required Qualifications A Master\'s degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching. Applicants must have experience in teaching undergraduates from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications A Ph.D. or extensive professional experience is required for teaching upper-division core courses (300- or 400-level). Employment Requirements Background Check Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Additional Information Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.
