SUMMARY



To bolster WadhwaniAI's efforts towards improving the delivery of public services, a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the domain of "Technology Policy" is required. The ideal candidate will possess excellent writing skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into well-structured deliverables. The role will require the ability to quickly comprehend complex concepts (even with limited prior knowledge), work on multiple projects at the same time and effectively manage government and donor relationships.

Wadhwani AI is a nonprofit institute building and deploying applied AI solutions to solve critical issues in public health, agriculture, education, and urban development in underserved communities in the global south. We collaborate with governments, social sector organizations, academic and research institutions, and domain experts to identify real-world problems, and develop practical AI solutions to tackle these issues with the aim of making a substantial positive impact.





We have over 30+ AI projects supported by leading philanthropies such as Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, USAID and Google.org. With a team of over 200 professionals, our expertise encompasses AI/ML research and innovation, software engineering, domain knowledge, design and user research.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


• Draft regular reports and policy briefs on digital policy developments, tailored to specific Government departments.
• Emphasize policies that benefit middle- and lower-income groups and promote diversity in India.
• Conduct thorough policy analysis and provide well-researched recommendations to shape policy directions.
• Analyze data generated by various programmatic units to identify actionable insights to facilitate effective governance.
• Evaluate programmatic and policy interventions to identify measures for maximizing on-ground impact.

Provide operational support to the WIAI's policy team (e.g., drafting policy and programmatic interventions, creating concept notes and presentations as and when required).

Provide guidance on regulatory requirements and changes.
• Ensure all projects comply with relevant regulations and policies.
• Assist the Practice Lead in strategy formulation, recruitment, knowledge management, communication, and dissemination of information.
• Oversee project execution to ensure timely and successful completion.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across various Government departments.
• Facilitate collaboration and information sharing between different governmental and non-governmental entities.
• Maintain effective, consistent and open communication with clients to ensure their satisfaction and address their needs promptly.
• Stay updated on emerging technology trends and their potential policy implications. Provide insights on how new technologies can be leveraged for public benefit.
• Interpret research findings and communicate results clearly and succinctly to a diverse audience. Ensure that complex data and policy impacts are understandable to non-specialist stakeholders.
• Evaluate the impact of digital policies on various demographics, especially marginalized groups. Recommend adjustments to policies to enhance positive outcomes and mitigate any negative effects.
• Participate in and contribute to sector-related dissemination events, conferences, and seminars to actively disseminate learnings from programs within the sector.
• Develop strong market development and business acquisition skills.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the organization's impact and reach.
• Contribute to the vision and strategy development of Government initiatives. Provide insights and recommendations to align projects with Government goals.


REQUIREMENTS


• Master's degree in Economics, Public Policy, Social Science, or other related fields of study.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in development/management consulting firms, research institutes, public policy think tanks, NGOs, or bilateral/multilateral agencies.
• Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex data and policy issues.
• Effective Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences. Must be able to express ideas effectively in a clear and concise manner. Prior experience in writing reports, creating client presentations, and publishing research papers is a strong plus.
• Project Management: Proficiency in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Client Management: Strong interpersonal skills to maintain client relationships.
• Strategic Thinking: Ability to contribute to strategic planning and vision development.
• Previous consulting experience in ICT and data governance will be greatly valued.
• Relevant work experience in the India Domestic market with consulting organizations, preferably in the Agriculture, MSME, Skilling, and Education sectors. Candidates without consulting experience will not be considered.
