Technology Center Manager - Executive Director

Position Summary

JPMC Technology is engaged in a global uplift of our technology capabilities and our technology centers play a critical role in that transformation. The local Tech Center leadership provides direct and indirect support to a wide range of the transformation activities and we are seeking a candidate whose technical fluency will enable them to strategically support their local teams.

The Technology Center Manager ED (TCM ED) is an integral part of the tech center leadership driving the global Tech Center strategy in alignment with the firm\'s technology priorities. In addition to the global lens, the TCM ED partners with the local tech center leadership team to curate and implement local programming. The Tech Center Executive Director has three dimensions to it including strategic advisement, tactical planning and execution responsibilities.

In the advisory role, TCM ED provides critical thought leadership to the global tech center leadership in establishing global and regional priorities. They maintain medium to long term views including influencing senior level leaders across Lines of Businesses. The role supports the design and development of outcome driven impact for one of the global workstreams in partnership with the Global Practice Lead (GPL) and or GT Program Owner. The TCM ED will:

  • Ensure regional alignment with Global Tech Center strategy while addressing local nuances
  • Contribute to Global Tech Center Org design and planning
  • Shape strategic and tactical direction for a Tech Center Focus Area (Center of Excellence - CoE) in partnership with the GPL; including development of program objectives and success criteria to drive an enhanced employee experience
  • Partner and consult with technology program and initiative owners defining optimum implementation and operationalization approach to utilize
  • Play a leadership role and act as trusted decision maker within the TCM community to enable mentoring and growth for other team members
  • Leverages a data driven approach using tech center metrics to make recommendations for programming adjustments to enhance and promote tech center growth, community building and achieve the overall global tech vision
In the tactical planning and execution role, the TCM ED provides program management support for both global initiatives executed at the tech center level, regional activities tied to a particular line of business needs and locally developed workstream activities. The scope of work spans community building; technical and professional learning activities; modernization and innovation support, communications and entry level and experienced recruiting. In partnership with local leadership and functional partners the TCM ED assures that the programs and initiatives maintain a focus on building stronger community and improving the overall employee experience. In this capacity, the TCM ED will:
  • Leads large scale complex programs across multiple Lines of Business
  • Establishes program objectives, priorities and roadmaps
  • Coordinates resources (staff, equipment, vendors and consultants) across multiple projects
  • Manages budget, monitors spend progress and adjusts resources and priorities accordingly
  • Maintains a strong system of internal governance and controls
  • Maintains a horizontal view across all the workstreams and identifies collaboration opportunities to promote implementation at scale
  • Manages the Tech Center governance, including leadership forums and metrics collation and event management and coordination for tech center run or hosted events
  • Supports the Tech Center Program with other ad hoc project management, strategy building, and execution as needed
This position requires strong partnership and influencing skills across a variety of local and global technology resources (site technologists, workstreams, volunteers) and business and functional partners (Communications , HR, recruiting, learning, real estate, et al.)

This role requires a strong grasp of the big-picture - namely, how can technology help achieve business goals - as well as a keen ability to establish priorities, manage resources and budgets, and build and incentivize high-performing teams. You\'ll work closely with colleagues across the firm to identify opportunities to develop projects and programs that are broadly applicable for the local change you and your leadership team are driving towards. You\'ll work with your local technology leadership team and members of the local tech center community to set goals, foster collaboration, and promote the values, culture, and brand of JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Other Major Functions/Responsibilities
  • Proactively identifies program and initiative intersectionality across the firm assuring organizational efficiency and implementation at scale
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced team members which may also include people management responsibilities
  • Take ownership of Tech Center impact metrics as they relate to various workstreams and implement strategies where applicable
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Technology Center Lead/s in strategizing, syndicating and implementing the Global Technology Center strategy
  • Maintain a broad view of the efficacy of GT wide programs within the context of the local tech center requirements.
  • Focus on rebuilding and enhancing our existing tech center communities as we adapt to hybrid working environment in the context of unprecedented labor market changes globally
  • Prioritization and Management of Technology Center activities in line with GT transformation strategy
  • Ensure tech center workstreams are operational and provide advice and counsel to the workstream leads and maintain a horizontal view across all the workstreams.
  • Ensure each workstream has the appropriate funding and approvals to execute their initiatives
  • Responsible for communication coordination and delivery; Ensure clear and consistent communication channels and cadence with site technologists. Evaluate periodically to validate effectiveness.
  • Partner with the Communications workstream and Communication Partners to ensure the technology site communications strategy is consistent with GT communication priorities and messaging.
  • Manage the Tech Center governance, including leadership forums and budget oversight.
  • Raise up issues and conflicts, investigate options, provide implementation support.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree or qualified work experience
  • 10-15 years of experience in a technology, tech project management, communications, marketing, or related role.
  • Proven track record of applying strategic mindset and execution best practices to global programs
  • Strong consultative approach with the ability to interact, influence and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to create and maintain relationships with a wide range of technology and non-technology stakeholders throughout the firm
  • Demonstrated capabilities in managing senior stakeholders through difficult situations resulting in positive outcomes
  • Demonstrated capabilities in stakeholder, budget, risk t and operations management
  • Experience with leading large-scale technology transformation initiatives
  • Ability to define and attract community development and engagement
  • Understanding of global and Line of Business project and technology program management standards and methods
  • Experience working with high-performing teams in complex technology program execution
