Job Purpose
Technologist - Carbon Abatement will execute identification and implementation of low-carbon sustainable technology projects and initiatives for Carbon Abatement / Green Fuels & Chemicals as per the defined strategy & plans, by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve organization's sustainability goals and targets.
Job Accountabilities
• Assess new technologies in the field of green/low-carbon product technologies, energy conservation, and climate change applicable for refining and petrochemical industry.
• Evaluate CO2 capture technologies to identify optimal solution for a variety of CO2 emission sources from refining and petrochemical units.
• Evaluate CO2 utilization technologies & solutions to produce sustainable feedstocks, chemicals, fuels and materials.
• Perform process engineering review of technical bids, Basic Engineering Packages (BEP) and detail engineering design documents.
• Participate in the complete process design of CO2 capture & utilization projects, starting from concept development, feasibility studies, pre-FEED, FEED and EPC.
• Apply basic scientific and engineering fundamentals and concepts to develop practical solutions to technological challenges.
• Perform techno-economic feasibility of new projects using market research, technical due-diligence and financial modelling approach.
• Draft / review publications (paper/patent) and oral presentations and assimilate technical articles for technology evaluation.
• Track & participate in technical programs/seminars/webinar to remain updated with the developments in the field.
Skill & Competencies
• Proven experience in gas separation technologies. Working experience in carbon capture technologies is an added advantage
• Proficient in process simulation, process modeling and optimization using Aspen Plus/ Hysys.
• A good understanding of the complete chain of carbon capture, utilization & storage (CCUS) technologies
• Knowledge and experience of technologies and challenges for developing lower carbon energy transition in energy and chemical sectors
• High level skills in process simulation, process modeling and optimization
• Curiosity and creativity, ability to learn and adapt in an agile way

• Excellent inter-personal skills and strong analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with proven expertise in creating and reviewing high quality written documents.
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deliver outputs on time.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Education Required : B. Tech. / M. Tech. in Chemical Engineering from a premier institute
Experience Required :
• 4-10 years of total experience in Refining / Petrochemical / Fertilizer industry in Operations, Technical Services, Technology or R&D.
• Preferred minimum 3-5 years in technical bid proposal evaluation, technology assessment / benchmarking, process design & engineering, plant erection & commissioning of CO2 Capture projects.
• In-depth understanding of commercial and advanced CO2 Capture technologies and the trade-off of each for applications in flue gases from power plants & process furnaces, and refining & petrochemical off-gases, etc.
