Hybrid Working

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Were flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances These requests will be reviewed and agreed for a period of time i.e., will have a start and end date.

Introduction:

Design and Development of ETL solutions for BUK Shared Technology work in Information Management using Ab-Initio Technologies

• Development & Testing of complex ETL components using Ab-Initio
• E2E Ab-Initio Batch ETL Implementation
• Effective integration with upstream and downstream processes and systems
• E2E Ownership of ETL developed application
• Ability to provide Technical help to team members and participate and contribute to relevant technical standards
• Ability to learn quickly other supportive technology like Python, Spark, Scala and other Cloud Tech skills etc.

What will you be doing?

• Design, development and implementation of optimal data pipeline architecture and data structures for data lake/data warehouse using Ab-Initio.
• Work with stakeholders including the Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data related technical issues and support their data analytical needs
• Streamline existing and introduce enhanced reporting and analysis solutions that leverage complex data sources derived from complex multiple internal systems
• Design and build the infrastructure required for optimal ETL Solution for data from variety of different sources using Ab-Initio ETL Technology
• Define and document best code practice within an agile environment with DevOps approach to development and implementation
• Contribute broadly to data engineering development work and Provide database design, development and implementation support
• Develop Data Ingest Techniques from multiple data sources
• Learn new tools and expand big data functionalities by implementing additional Hadoop and Spark ecosystem components to meet evolving business needs
• Responsible for creating work estimate, technical projects plans and PROD implementation plan
• E2E Responsibility of developed application which includes critical data issue resolution and BAU support to stakeholders
• Lead POC work for new product ideas - should perform well as an individual contributor and lead the activities along with other data engineers

• Responsible for co-ordinating, participating in, and is responsible for, the work of a team of managed services/ contractors on a need basis.
• Making effective use of resources during the various stages of the work, ensuring that business objectives are met and deliverables achieved to agreed time, and quality
• Providing advice, guidance and assistance to less experienced colleagues (as required).
• Putting in place mechanisms and procedures for the structured review of work produced and ensuring that these are adhered to.
• Establishing and maintaining agreed standards applicable to the work undertaken and ensuring that these, and other mandatory standards and architectures, are adhered to.

• Building and maintaining an expert understanding of the various stages of software development, enhancements, and support (where required).
• Providing guidance and assistance to colleagues in any aspect of programme design, creation, testing and documentation.
• Interfacing with other teams, sharing technical knowledge and expertise and resolving issues as necessary. Acting as a point of reference for both internal and external technical queries.

Organizational Improvement

• Assisting with the implementation of operational objectives for relevant team/programme.
• Supporting the implementation of strategy and policy issues by involvement in development/change and/or advice to other technical areas and making recommendations to improve procedures and working practices.
• Taking part in evaluations and reviews of programming methods, tools and standards.

What were looking for:

• Expertise in Ab-Initio batch & ETL Design /Solution skills along with performance enhancement knowledge
• Experience with relational database such as Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata
• Strong knowledge of data and analytics, ETL (Ab-Initio), reporting tools, data governance, data warehousing, structured and unstructured data.
• Experience of Tech team leading and providing support whenever required
• Passionate about Agile Software processes, data-driven development, reliability and experimentation
• Experience developing and maintaining data warehouse in big data solutions using Ab-Initio Technologies
• Experience with batch and real time data processing tools and technologies (i.e., Kafka, Spark, Cloud data streaming tools)

Skills that will help you in the role:

• B.E./B. Tech in Computer Science, Engineering or related degrees
• Work experience with R, Python, Scala and Pandas or similar programming knowledge is plus
• Experience with relational database such as Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata
• Big data knowledge including Hive, Impala, HDFS, Scala
• Knowledge of conducting various POCs for new product development using different tech skills
