Job Summary

We are looking for a diligent individual to oversee the implementation of My Sustainability Index (MSI), ensuring regulatory compliance, and upholding Occupational Health (OH) standards. Your role is crucial in managing lab safety, fire prevention, emergency response teams, and risk reduction plans, fostering a culture of safety and sustainability within the organization while ensuring compliance with legal requirements.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • You will be responsible for implementation of MSI, ensuring implementation and monitoring of regulatory, statutory, and legal compliance, implementing policies and site objectives across all departments.
  • You will be responsible for monitoring and implementing lab safety, implementation and compliance of LOTO (Lock-Out Tag-Out) system, and conducting safety trainings as per plans.
  • You will be responsible for OH Management, including coordinating with HR for mandatory scheduled medical check for employees and contractors, conducting half-yearly wellness programs designed based on data analytics, and ensuring the site medical officer identifies and acts on medically abnormal or OH cases.
  • As part of your responsibilities in monitoring and managing compliance with fire and explosion related requirements, you will assess fire prevention requirements of the site, implement fire prevention mechanisms, train personnel on fire safety requirements, ensure emergency gears are operable, and conduct one incident drill per quarter.
  • Your responsibilities include reviewing shift-wise deployment adequacy of ERT (Emergency Response Team) members, ensuring 100% ERT training, and implementation of fire and explosion safety check list and compliance.
  • Your role also involves implementation of risk reduction plans such as eliminating open handling of solvent, centrifuge safety, CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions) for low MIE (Minimum Ignition Energy) powder processing equipment.
  • You will monitor pest and rodent control activities and relevant records on site.
  • As a site coordinator for implementation of MSI (My Sustainability Index), you will be responsible for training on SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment), implementing Gensuite, preparing audit schedules for GEMBA, leadership audits, etc., implementing CAPA for observations from audits, and coordinating with SHE head for preparing and evaluating zone ranking.
  • You will also prepare and send minutes of meeting from safety meetings.
  • Your responsibilities include ensuring availability, usage and compliance of PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), ensuring N2 (Nitrogen) blanketing for all centrifuges, checking operability of provided machine safety interlocks, and ensuring zero access guard for all rotating parts.
  • Your role extends to issuance of work permits, maintaining permit statistics on site, routinely conducting site rounds and audits to ensure adherence to all safety norms, encouraging employees and contractors to participate in monthly safety campaigns, and managing reward and recognition program.

Qualifications


Educational qualification
: A B.Tech. or B.Sc. and M.Sc.; Diploma in Industrial Safety

Minimum work experience: 2 to 8 years

Skills & attributes:

Technical Skills
  • Hands on experience in fire trainings, fire safety, procurement, and compliance.
  • Experience in using SAP.
  • Knowledge of HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment), auditing and Safety standards.
  • Understanding of OH management.
  • Familiarity with fire prevention mechanisms and emergency response protocols, including conducting drills and assessing incident readiness.
  • Experience in implementing risk reduction plans and CAPA for safety improvements, especially for handling hazardous materials and equipment.

Behavioural skills
  • Effective communication skills for conducting safety trainings and coordinating with various departments and stakeholders.
  • Leadership abilities to oversee ERT training and motivate employees to participate in safety campaigns.
  • Attention to detail in monitoring compliance with safety norms and ensuring the availability and proper usage of PPE.
  • Commitment to safety, compliance, OH, and sustainability to promote a safety culture.
