We treasure every talent, and recognize merit and diversity in our organization.Job SummaryWe are seeking an individual to lead safety initiatives at the plant level, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and driving continuous improvement in Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) performance. Responsibilities include implementing company-wide safety initiatives, conducting safety evaluations, and monitoring occupational health management.Roles & Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for implementation of safety initiatives at the plant level, and driving continuous improvement of SHE performance in line with policy and principles.
  • You will ensure that statutory and legal compliance are understood, implemented and monitored regularly.
  • You will be responsible for driving the My Sustainability Index Initiative in the plant by ensuring the sustenance through Line management and coordinating with standard owners w.r.t implementation of respective safety standards.
  • You will attend BU (Business Unit) level Safety meetings. You will also expedite progress on the action points obtained from all BU level and Corp. Level Safety meetings by coordinating with cross functional teams.
  • You will conduct safety performance evaluation by Zone/location ranking using KPIs on monthly basis.
  • You will be responsible for implementing Company/BU level Safety Initiatives (Prevent reoccurrence and Horizontal CAPA - Corrective and Preventive actions - implementation of Major incidents initiatives, Safety Star caps, etc.)
  • You will ensure right classification of incidents and investigate for selected incidents.
  • Your role includes identifying all location specific risks and ensuring their mitigation through proper action plan.
  • You will ensure proper risk assessments for any projects (including HIRA - Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment/JSA - Job Safety Analysis) and coordinate MOC (Management Change)/PSSR (Pre-Startup Safety Review).
  • You will be responsible for monitoring Occupational Health Management, employee and contractor's medical examinations, and record keeping.
  • Your responsibilities include regular site rounds, safety inspections, and spot checks to ensure that all Safety norms and systems (LOTO - Lockout Tagout, PTW - Permit to Work, etc.) are not violated.
  • You will monitor compliance to established SHE procedures such as Mock drills, fire and evacuation drills, OSEP (On-Site Emergency Plan), ERT (Emergency Response Team), basic firefighting, first aid training, work place monitoring, and other emergency controls and systems.
  • In association with respective departments, you will organize campaigns, competitions, contests, and other activities to develop and maintain awareness regarding establishing and maintaining safe work conditions and procedures.
  • You will design training programs to ensure the compliance of trainings for all contractors and employees.
  • You will be responsible for conducting location and site Safety Committee meetings and implementing recommendations discussed.
  • Your responsibilities include evaluating effectiveness of injury prevention actions/proposals, ensuring availability of activity-specific PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), and conducting daily meetings with team to monitor their performance.
  • You will prepare and obtain approval for Revenue and Capital budgets for SHE goals and ensure operations within the budget targets.
  • You will liaison with location compliance team, peers, and outside agencies to obtain approvals of consents, licenses, and other statutory approvals for smooth functioning of the plant.
QualificationsEducational qualification: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related fieldMinimum work experience: 8 to 12 years of experience in safety management, preferably in the manufacturing industrySkills & attributes:Technical Skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety management principles, policies, and practices.
  • Experience in implementing safety initiatives and driving continuous improvement.
  • In-depth understanding of statutory and legal requirements related to safety.
  • Experience in driving sustainability initiatives and coordination with standard owners for the implementation of safety standards.
  • Understanding of emergency controls and systems.
  • Demonstrates financial acumen in budget preparation and management.
Behavioural Skills
  • Demonstrates strong leadership in driving safety initiatives and compliance.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for safety meetings, presentations, and coordination with cross functional teams and external agencies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for incident investigation and risk assessment.
