Core Purpose of the Role :

The incumbent will be part of the compound management group. In this role, the successful candidate will be expected to play a leading role in the automated or semi-automated compound management system and processes at Syngene.

In this role, the candidate along with the line management will be expected to play an active role in managing compounds, and distributions to external or internal clients. The incumbent will work closely with internal teams or vendors for receiving compounds and registration and will support in providing assay ready plates (ARPs).

Role Accountabilities:
  • Running an automated compound Management system at Syngene for managing solids and liquid (DMSO) stocks.
  • Play an active role in managing the state of the art compound management system that encompasses the registration, tracking, storing, preparation of ARPs, disbursal, and shipping (with logistics team) of compounds.
  • Engage in all compound management workflows and tasks including transfer and weighing of compounds in powder format, compound dissolution, and preparation of compound solutions in plated formats (ARPs) using both manual and automated systems.
  • Provide high quality compound intake and request fulfillment with strong focus while managing inventory projection with careful attention to detail, consistency, and documentation.
  • Lead a team of scientists on the compound management system establishing a sustaining model, ensuring quality and timelines
  • Liasioning with chemistry and biology leads to ensure broad adoption of new processes across R&D. Works closely with the automation engineers and consultants for implementation of the processes and systems.
  • Play a key role in managing our collaborations with different partners in small molecules for their compounds storage and inventory and thereby helping in enabling new projects for drug discovery.
Skills and competencies:
  • Strong background in laboratory information management, automation, and compound management skills with a track record of working with small molecule drug discovery programs
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong time management and process-oriented thinking
  • Experience with liquid handling platforms is a plus
  • Experience in data management, inventory creation and integration of the hardware with software
  • Teamwork with internal stakeholders- chemists, biologists, and external partners in order to implement processes and tools that will foster the science
  • Ensure the development of effective environment, health, and safety (EHS) practices for the company and oversee compliance with those practices

Education:
  • Masters in Life Sciences stream such as Biotechnology, Biochemistry or Chemistry with 10+ years of relevant experience in the industry (CRO, Pharma or Biotech) for managing bio-samples and compounds OR
  • PhD/Postdoc with 5+ years of relevant experience.
