Special Educator
• Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) :
+ Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
+ Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to create effective IEPs.
• Instruction and Curriculum Adaptation :
+ Adapt and modify the general education curriculum to meet the individual needs of students.
+ Provide specialized instruction to students in both inclusive and separate settings.
+ Utilize various teaching methods and instructional materials to accommodate different learning styles.
• Assessment and Evaluation :
+ Conduct assessments to identify students' needs and monitor their progress.
+ Use formal and informal assessments to evaluate students' academic and social-emotional growth.
• Behavior Management :
+ Develop and implement behavior management plans to address challenging behaviors.
+ Use positive behavior support strategies to promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
• Collaboration and Communication :
+ Work closely with general education teachers to support the inclusion of students with special needs.
+ Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and any concerns.
+ Collaborate with other professionals, such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and psychologists, to support students' needs.
• Professional Development :
+ Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education.
+ Share knowledge and strategies with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience for students.
• Record Keeping and Compliance :
+ Maintain accurate and confidential student records, including IEPs, progress reports, and assessment data.
+ Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding special education.
• Support Services :
+ Provide support services such as tutoring, remediation, and skill development to help students succeed.
+ Assist with the development of transition plans for students moving between grades or to post-secondary opportunities.
