Job Description

The Tailor for Heavy Couture Garments is responsible for constructing, altering, and repairing high-end couture garments. This role demands exceptional skill in tailoring, a deep understanding of garment construction, and the ability to work with a variety of heavy fabrics. The tailor will collaborate closely with designers and the couture team to ensure each piece meets the brand's exacting standards of fit, finish, and craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

• Garment Construction:
• Construct couture garments from start to finish based on design specifications, patterns, and sketches.
• Use precise sewing techniques to assemble garments, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
• Alterations and Adjustments:
• Perform complex alterations and adjustments on couture garments to achieve the perfect fit.
• Tailor garments to meet individual client measurements and preferences.
• Fabric Handling:
• Work with a wide range of heavy and delicate fabrics, such as silk, velvet, brocade, and lace.
• Ensure proper handling and care of fabrics to prevent damage and maintain their quality.
• Fittings:
• Conduct fittings with clients, taking accurate measurements and making necessary adjustments.
• Provide expert advice on garment fit and style during fittings.
• Finishing Techniques:
• Apply advanced finishing techniques, including hand stitching, hemming, and pressing.
• Add intricate details such as linings, buttons, zippers, and embellishments.
• Pattern Making:
• Create and modify patterns based on designer sketches and client measurements.
• Ensure patterns are accurate and can be easily followed during garment construction.
• Quality Control:
• Inspect completed garments for quality, ensuring they meet the brand's high standards.
• Make final adjustments and corrections to achieve a flawless finish.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with designers, embroiderers, and other members of the couture team to ensure seamless integration of all garment elements.
• Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and preferences.
• Time Management:
• Efficiently manage time to meet tight deadlines without compromising the quality of work.
• Prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a tailor, preferably in the couture or high fashion industry.
• Exceptional tailoring skills with a strong understanding of garment construction.
• Ability to work with heavy and delicate fabrics.
• Excellent attention to detail and precision in sewing and finishing techniques.
• Strong understanding of fit and proportion.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills to interact with designers, clients, and other team members.
• Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ?16,000.00 - ?18,000.00 per month
