Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join HRT's Trading Systems Infrastructure team (SysTrade) in India. This role is critical to ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of our trading systems, which operate in some of the fastest and most demanding environments in the world.The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing Linux systems in data centers, with a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced in high-frequency trading. A strong preference will be given to candidates with experience working with financial exchanges such as the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and a deep understanding of exchange connectivity, market data, and low-latency trading environments. • Optimize Linux systems for low-latency and high-performance trading environments
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures for Linux systems and data center operations
• Perform routine system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of hardware, server resources, and key processes
• Automate system management tasks using shell scripting or other automation tools
• Oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of hardware within data centers, e.g. network switches, firewall, servers, optics/SFPs, structured cabling, etc., ensuring minimal latency and maximum uptime
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, ensuring quick resolution to minimize impact on trading operations
• Handles circuits and cross connects installation, work with carrier/telco for new circuits installation or assists in troubleshoot circuit issues
• Manage and oversee data center infrastructure, including racks, power circuits, PDUs, cooling, and cross-connects, while ensuring proper racking, stacking, cabling, and power distribution for new and existing hardware
• Lead incident response efforts in the event of system failures, ensuring minimal disruption to trading activities

Qualifications:

• Experience working in data centers, including hardware deployment, racking, cabling, and environmental monitoring
• Proven experience with network configuration and management in low-latency environments.
• Hands-on experience with scripting languages such as Python or Bash
• Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu) and system administration tools
• Proficiency in networking technologies (e.g., Cisco, Juniper) and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF)
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with India Financial Exchanges such as NSE and BSE is preferred, and additional working experience with other Asia Exchanges will be a plus
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
