• Programming experience with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science with 6+ years of experience in a Software Engineering, DevOps, or Systems Engineering capacity.
• Bash experience plus knowledge of at least one scripting language (Python, Ruby)
• Demonstrated UNIX (preferably Linux) systems engineering skills.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead OR leading an engineering team

Systems Development Engineers are expected to develop best practices, refine operational procedures and constantly innovate proactively. Key job responsibilities
The Amazon OpenSearch Service team is searching for a System Development Engineer to develop efficient, scalable frameworks and automation tools for solving complex problems in space of Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Deployment (CD), Security Deployments, Integration Test Framework, Containerization etc. We're looking for a System Development Engineer who's self-driven, able to deal with ambiguity, passionate about giving customers the best possible experience and comes with strong systems engineering fundamentals.

• Experience using Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, EBS, ELB, RDS, etc.)
• Experience building container solutions using Docker - Kubernetes
• 4+ years of hands on work experience in Software Engineering, Dev Ops, and/or Systems Development
• Record of mentoring other engineers to maintain architectural vision and software quality.
• Meets/exceeds Amazon's leadership principles requirements for this role
• Meets/exceeds Amazon's functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
• Experience with high scale, distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, and databases
• Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
• Deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems; ability to think abstractly
• Experience building software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
• Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
• Self-directed and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment
