• Configure and install new Linux Servers (RHEL and SUSE)
• Perl scripting to automate aspects of systems maintenance
• Linux systems performance, tuning, and enhancements
• Install patches, configure machines and provide overall support of the Linux environment
• Serve as an escalation point to resolve problems on Linux servers and user environments
• Design and document processes and procedures to automate common tasks
• Work closely with Application Teams, Database Administrators, and Q/A personnel
• Mentor junior Linux systems administrators
• Provide root cause and failure analysis to resolve systems problems
• Strong working knowledge of virtualization technologies and VMware products
• Hands on Experience with HA on RHEL and SUSE
• Strong scripting knowledge: Perl scripting, or bash, or Python; and command line utilities.
• Must be able to troubleshoot complex issues quickly and effectively.
• Understanding of basic and intermediate TCP/IP and internet protocols required
• Experience managing many mission critical servers
• Strong knowledge of RHEL and VCS clusters installation, configuration and implementation.
• Good experience on yum configurations and RHN network troubleshooting.
• Hands on experience with Redhat Satellite, PXE boot strategy and kick start.
• Previous experience with RHEL performance monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, and security hardening
• Excellent understanding and knowledge of Networking and Storage Technologies.
• Hands on experience with SSH, NFS, DNS and LDAP.
• Excellent working knowledge on the Linux and Veritas file system and logical volume management.
• Knowledge of EMC technology, Time finder, BCV, SRDF
• Involved in preparing the scripts and cronjobs for regular task automation.
• Familiar with Apache webserver configuration.
• Experience with Tomcat and/or WebSphere application server a plus.
• Good team player - one who can prioritize in a fast moving, high pressure, constantly changing environment
• Ability to handle heavy workloads with limited supervision.
• Extending support with onsite engineers to address any Network related issues.
