The Virtualization Engineer position within IES Operations Center is responsible for monitoring our Virtualization infrastructure. This position requires a thorough knowledge of VMware Virtualization and Oracle's OLVM/KVM product. This includes the ability to operate in a multi-platform, multi-operating system, multi-component environment utilizing a large number of servers builds in a multi-client environment.
Monitor the fundamental server/network capacity. Determine the characteristics of a problem and either resolve the problem immediately and/or record, escalate, and track the problem through to closure and to the customer's satisfaction.

Key areas of responsibility:
• Identify, troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure infrastructure problems .
• Performance monitoring, tuning and statistical reporting
• Providing advanced escalation support, including engaging supplier support.
• Creating, collaborating, reviewing, and approving technical work plans associated with maintenance or fix activities to minimize human error and maximize system availability.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• 1-2+ Years Virtualization Support experience
• Strong organizational skills
• Remote infrastructure support experience
• Working experience with vSphere systems administration and support including vMotion, HA, DRS, VDS, Affinity rules, vCenter and storage migrations.
• Knowledge or exposure Home Products vCenter Operations Management Suite.
• Full understanding of server Virtualization (ESX) and centralized storage (NAS/SAN).
• Experience with vSphere problem determination and root cause analysis.
• Working experience with vSphere Thin Provisioning, Resource Pools, and Storage plug-ins.
• Performs troubleshooting as required and manage the day-to-day operations of the servers by monitoring system performance.
• Ensures that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained. Applies revisions to host system firmware and software. Works with vendors to assist support activities.
• Providing advanced escalation support, including engaging supplier support.
• Performance monitoring and tuning.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Current VCP/VCP-DCV Certification.
• Sound server class hardware knowledge, preferably HP ProLiant BL ,DL Series , and KVM hosts.
• HP SIM (Systems Insight Manager), iLO & Onboard Administrator.
• Cluster Administration.
• VMware Infrastructure (ESX Servers, vCenter, VMotion, DRS, HA).
• Good understanding of SAN/Storage and Citrix environment.
• Knowledge or exposure of Linux Operating System.
• Must possess the initiative to resolve issues before they become critical.
