This role is crucial to make HARMAN successful in the transition towards a product company. Ready Upgrade is a family of Domain Controller products which will develop multiple generations of Domain controllers. Each Product instance is dependent on a reliable Software Supply Chain from internal as well es external software suppliers.
The Software Supply Manager is responsible for managing the software supply chain for the for all Ready Upgrade products throughout the complete product life cycle. This includes managing the procurement, delivery, and inventory management of software licenses and subscriptions, ensuring that the organization has the necessary software to meet business needs, while also minimizing costs and risks.
What You Will Do
Identify and select software suppliers and make informed make or buy decisions.
Formulate and negotiate statements of work (SoW) with each supplier.
Develop and implement effective software licensing strategies that allow for scaling up to 20 OEMs.
Oversee software procurement processes, including purchase orders, and coordinate with internal software licensing and legal departments.
Agree with software vendors on milestones, content, and quality standards.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with software vendors at both the top management and operational levels to negotiate favorable terms and conditions for software procurement needs.
Ensure timely software deliveries and manage escalation processes.
Conduct regular performance reviews of software vendors and resolve any issues that arise.
Manage the complete scope of software procurement, including multiple silicon suppliers, third-party software vendors, internal platform software, navigation, Google Android, Apple Car Play, VPA, Autosar, open-source components, Space 1-7, OTA, hypervisor, cloud service providers, HMI and UX design partners, and more.
Manage software budgets and provide regular reporting on software-related expenses, releasing or holding back payments according to SoW and deliveries.
Handle change requests and coordinate the hardening and defect fixing cycle with vendors.
Coordinate day-to-day activities, including sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Develop and implement long-term maintenance strategies and plans, considering both in- and out-sourcing options.
Develop and maintain an accurate inventory of software licenses and subscriptions, including tracking usage and renewals.
Monitor market trends and technology advancements to ensure the organization stays up-to-date with the latest software solutions.
Ensure proper long-term supplier strategy is in alignment with company and product strategy.
What You Need
Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer engineering/Sciences or equivalent from premier institutes
18-20 years of overall work experience with a min of 10 years' experience in Automotive domain and delivery responsibilities.
Bachelor's degree in Business, IT, or related field.
5+ years of experience in software procurement and management.
Strong negotiation skills and experience working with software vendors.
Knowledge of software licensing models and compliance requirements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Experience managing budgets and financial reporting.
Knowledge of automotive industry best practices for software procurement and management.
Good technical knowledge and understanding of Automotive SW architectures
