Position Overview:
The Subject Matter Specialist in Life Skills Education will play a crucial role in developing and implementing effective life skills programs for students in grades 6-12. This position focuses on fostering essential skills such as communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, financial literacy, and social-emotional learning to prepare students for success in their personal and professional lives. This position will closely work with the school coordinators and will report to the project managers. Key Responsibilities: 1. Curriculum Development: • Analyse the existing curriculum, design and enhance it for comprehensive life skills framework that aligns with educational standards and best practices.
• Incorporate real-world scenarios and experiential learning opportunities to engage students effectively.
2. Professional Development: • Facilitate workshops and training sessions for school coordinators on life skills instruction and integration into existing curricula.
• Provide ongoing coaching and support to school coordinators in implementing life skills education.
• Observe life skills sessions conducted by the school coordinators and provide them constructive feedback for the betterment
• Work closely with the external agencies for the digitation of the Life Skills Education content and for the dashboard development
• Create IEC materials for the content
3. Assessment and Evaluation: • Develop assessment tools to measure student progress and program effectiveness in life skills education.
• Analyse feedback and performance data to continuously improve the curriculum and instructional strategies.
4. Research and Best Practices: • Stay updated on current trends and research in life skills education and social-emotional learning.
• Share best practices with faculty to create a dynamic learning environment.
5. Collaboration and Support: • Work closely with other partners who are working in the space of Life Skill Education to create a cohesive approach to life skills education.
• Serve as a resource for project coordinators in addressing specific challenges related to life skills instruction.
6. Community Engagement: • Engage with parents and the community to promote awareness of life skills education and its importance for student development.
• Organize events or workshops to involve families and community members in the learning process.
Qualifications: • Master's degree in education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of [5-6] years of teaching or educational experience, preferably in middle or high school settings.
• Strong understanding of life skills education principles and social-emotional learning frameworks.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
• Ability to analyse data and use it to inform instructional practices.
• In-dept knowledge about the core Life Skills as prescribed by various organizations like WHO, UNICEF, etc.
Desired Skills: • Experience in instructional strategies specific to life skills education.
• Passion for empowering students to develop essential life skills.
