Job Description

• At Blue Apps, we write news/news you can use and produce media apps for overseas markets. Our team includes a passionate bunch who write content which is concise, compelling and relevant across news, sports, entertainment, infotainment and Christian - and growing - genres for the smartphone generation.

• We require candidates with over 7 years' and up to 12 years' experience in the content field to edit content (including world news, business news, sport, entertainment, infotainment) for mobile phone users (the core market is 18-35 year-olds so applicants within this age group are preferred).
+ You must have a good eye for what is news - not the usual run-of-the-mill stuff, but news people can use and wherever possible news which can bring a smile to the reader's face (so a sense of humour is a must), and guide writers accordingly.
+ You will have to check and edit stories for publication, aiming to make them more readable by getting rid of useless wordage - thus getting more into the story - and to reshape the story if necessary so that it becomes an interesting read and can be easily understood by anyone.
+ You will have to ensure stories are factually and grammatically correct, are in line with the house style, are not defamatory and are as close as possible to 320 characters.
+ You will also help train writers on the job by guiding and mentoring them, and putting together a style manual.
+ You must have very good knowledge about the subject areas - Sports or News or Entertainment (non-India) and the key players and stories influencing global trends and events as well as a working knowledge of the genre.
+ You must have very good English writing skills to be able to write and compress the content into snippets of 320 characters or less (this is the hardest part of the job).
+ You must be a positive and honest person with a can-do attitude, wanting to explore and learn.
+ A bachelors/masters in journalism combo or a bachelors/masters in journalism/English combo would possibly help, unless you can show us nothing beats experience and knowledge.
