Job Overview :

The Student Affairs and Discipline Officer is responsible for overseeing student behavior, ensuring compliance with institutional policies, and fostering a respectful, inclusive, and positive learning environment. The role involves working closely with students, faculty, and staff to address disciplinary issues, mediate conflicts, and implement educational programs that promote personal growth, accountability, and community standards.

Key Responsibilities : 1. Student Discipline Management

• Investigate and address student behavior issues in accordance with institutional policies and codes of conduct.
• Provide guidance and support in handling incidents of academic dishonesty, substance abuse, harassment, bullying, or any other violations of university policies.
• Ensure that all disciplinary actions are consistent, fair, and in compliance with institutional guidelines and legal requirements.
• Lead disciplinary hearings, document case proceedings, and manage follow-up actions.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of disciplinary cases, including investigations, sanctions, and resolutions.

2. Conflict Resolution and Mediation

• Act as a mediator in conflicts between students, faculty, and staff to ensure resolution in a peaceful, effective, and timely manner.
• Use restorative justice principles to promote understanding, accountability, and reconciliation.
• Assist in resolving grievances and appeals related to academic or disciplinary matters.

3. Student Support and Counseling

• Provide support to students in crisis or experiencing personal challenges that may affect their academic and social lives.
• Assist in connecting students with campus resources such as mental health services, academic counseling, financial aid, and extracurricular activities.
• Offer guidance on time management, stress management, and conflict resolution techniques.

4. Policy Development and Review

• Contribute to the development, review, and revision of student conduct policies, codes of ethics, and behavioral guidelines.
• Ensure that all policies reflect current legal standards and best practices in student affairs and disciplinary matters.
• Participate in training staff, faculty, and students on the institution's policies, procedures, and expectations.

5. Education and Prevention Programs

• Develop and implement educational initiatives to promote positive student behavior, diversity, inclusion, and community engagement.
• Lead programs on topics such as ethics, respect, alcohol and drug awareness, mental health, and bullying prevention.
• Coordinate with other departments (e.g., counseling services, residential life) to provide a holistic approach to student development.

6. Collaboration and Communication

• Foster collaboration between student affairs, academic departments, faculty, and other campus units to promote student success.
• Serve as a liaison between students and administration to communicate concerns, feedback, and suggestions regarding the student experience.
• Engage with campus leadership to address larger institutional issues related to student life and discipline.

7. Record Keeping and Reporting

• Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive student information while ensuring all records are compliant with FERPA and other privacy laws.
• Provide regular reports to senior administration on the status of student discipline cases, trends, and any other relevant metrics.
• Keep accurate documentation of student violations, appeals, and follow-up actions.

Qualifications :

• Education : Bachelor's degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, Social Work, Psychology, or related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
• Experience : At least 2-3 years of experience in student affairs, student discipline, or a related field. Experience in conflict resolution, crisis management, or counseling is a plus.
• Skills :
• Strong understanding of student conduct codes and legal issues in higher education.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work with diverse populations.
• Conflict resolution, mediation, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to ?110,000.00 per month
