As an Academic Counselor / Study Abroad Consultant, you will play a crucial role in assisting students in making informed decisions about studying abroad. Your responsibilities will include:
Student Guidance: Provide personalized counseling to students regarding their study abroad aspirations. This involves understanding their academic background, interests, career goals, and financial considerations.
Program Selection: Advise students on suitable study programs, universities, colleges, or language schools based on their preferences, academic qualifications, and budget.
Application Assistance: Assist students with the application process, including filling out forms, preparing required documents (transcripts, letters of recommendation, essays), and meeting deadlines.
Visa Guidance: Guide students through the visa application process, including required documentation, visa interviews, and other legal procedures.
Financial Aid and Scholarships: Provide information about available scholarships, grants, and financial aid options to help students finance their education abroad.
Pre-departure Orientation: Organize pre-departure orientation sessions to prepare students for cultural adjustments, academic expectations, and practical aspects of living and studying abroad.
Post-Arrival Support: Offer support to students after their arrival abroad, addressing any concerns or challenges they may face during their stay.
Networking and Collaboration: Build and maintain relationships with educational institutions, government agencies, and other stakeholders in the study abroad sector to stay updated on program offerings, scholarship opportunities, and visa regulations.
Market Research: Conduct market research to identify emerging trends in international education and develop strategies to attract students from diverse backgrounds.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student interactions, applications, and outcomes for reporting and analysis purposes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Education, Counseling, International Relations, etc.). A Master's degree may be preferred.
1-2 + experience in study abroad academic advising, counselling
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of study abroad programs, admissions procedures, and visa regulations.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
Proficiency in multiple languages may be an advantage.
Familiarity with relevant software and databases for managing student information.
