Position: Student Counsellor

Job Summary: The Student Counsellor will play a crucial role in advising and supporting students through the study abroad process. This includes providing guidance on academic programs, cultural adaptation, and personal development to ensure a successful and enriching experience for our students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one counselling sessions to students to discuss academic, personal, and career goals.
• Assist students in selecting appropriate study abroad programs that align with their academic interests and career aspirations.
• Offer guidance on application processes, visa requirements, and pre-departure preparations.
• Conduct orientation sessions and workshops for students and their families to address expectations, cultural adjustment, and practical matters related to studying abroad.
• Provide ongoing support to students while they are abroad, including assistance with academic challenges, cultural adjustment, and personal issues.
• Coordinate with host institutions and partner organisations to ensure students receive necessary support and resources.
• Create and update informational materials, such as guides and handbooks, to assist students in their study abroad journey.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents and follow up with students and families as needed.
• Collaborate with academic advisors, faculty, and staff to promote study abroad opportunities and support student success.

Experience:

• Counselling Experience: Previous experience (1-5 years) in student counselling, academic advising.
• Study Abroad Advising: Direct experience with study abroad programs.

Skills and Competencies:

• Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to build rapport with students, families, and colleagues. Excellent listening and empathy skills.
• Communication Skills: Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities to effectively convey information to diverse audiences.
• Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and multitasking skills to manage multiple students and tasks simultaneously.
• Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills to assist students with various academic and personal issues.
• Technological Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with student information systems and online communication tools.
