Job Title: Store Keeper
Job Summary:
The Store Keeper is responsible for overseeing the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, goods, or inventory within a store, warehouse, or facility. They ensure that products are correctly labeled, stored in appropriate locations, and kept in optimal condition. The Store Keeper also maintains accurate inventory records, manages stock levels, and ensures compliance with safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Inventory Management:
• Receive, check, and store incoming shipments of goods and materials.
• Verify that deliveries match the corresponding purchase orders or inventory requests in terms of quantity and quality.
• Track and monitor stock levels to ensure availability while avoiding overstocking or stockouts.
• Perform regular stock counts and reconcile any discrepancies in inventory records.
• Maintain accurate records of goods received, items issued, and stock movements.
• Organization and Storage:
• Ensure that goods are stored in an organized and easily accessible manner, using the appropriate shelving, bins, or containers.
• Label items clearly and ensure that stock is rotated according to the first-in, first-out (FIFO) method to prevent waste or expiration (where applicable).
• Ensure that all products are stored according to safety and regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the store or warehouse.
• Stock Issuance:
• Issue goods or materials to other departments, staff, or customers based on requests, ensuring that the correct quantities are dispensed.
• Prepare and pack orders for delivery or collection, ensuring accuracy in the order fulfillment process.
• Maintain proper documentation of items issued or transferred to prevent errors.
• Inventory Control and Reporting:
• Conduct regular physical inventories to ensure accurate stock levels and prevent inventory shrinkage.
• Generate inventory reports and provide regular updates on stock levels, usage trends, and replenishment needs.
• Assist in forecasting inventory needs and place orders with suppliers as required.
• Report damaged, expired, or obsolete stock and recommend actions to management.
• Safety and Security:
• Ensure that stock is stored safely and securely to prevent theft, damage, or deterioration.
• Follow safety protocols when handling materials and using equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
• Adhere to safety regulations regarding hazardous materials, chemicals, or heavy goods.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Collaborate with other departments (e.g., procurement, production, sales) to ensure smooth inventory management and stock flow.
• Communicate with suppliers to arrange for timely delivery of stock and resolve any supply chain issues.
• Provide assistance to staff or customers in locating items and answering queries about stock availability.
• Maintenance of Equipment:
• Ensure that warehouse or storage equipment (e.g., shelving, pallet racks, forklifts) is in good working condition.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel for repair.
• Documentation and Record-Keeping:
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of stock levels, movements, and transactions using inventory management systems or spreadsheets.
• Prepare delivery notes, stock reports, and any required documentation for internal or external audits.
• Ensure that all receipts and dispatches are accurately recorded and properly filed.
Qualifications:
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. A degree or certification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is a plus.
Experience: Previous experience in a storekeeping, warehousing, or inventory management role is preferred.
