Job description
As a store and packaging incharge for research and laboratory chemicals, your role involves several important responsibilities to ensure the safe handling, storage, and shipment of these chemicals. Here are some key aspects of your job:
• Inventory Management : You'll oversee the storage and organization of research and laboratory chemicals in the store. This includes maintaining accurate inventory records, tracking stock levels, and conducting regular audits to ensure sufficient supplies are available.
• Packaging Compliance : Ensuring that all chemicals are packaged according to regulatory standards and safety guidelines. This involves using appropriate containers, labeling them correctly with hazard information and safety warnings, and complying with transportation regulations for hazardous materials.
• Quality Control : Implementing quality control measures to ensure the integrity and purity of chemicals during storage and packaging. This includes inspecting incoming shipments for damage or leaks, checking expiration dates, and monitoring environmental conditions like temperature and humidity.
• Safety Protocols : Enforcing safety protocols and procedures for handling and packaging chemicals to protect employees, customers, and the environment. This includes training staff on safe handling practices, providing personal protective equipment (PPE), and implementing emergency response plans for spills or accidents.
• Shipping and Logistics : Coordinating the shipping and delivery of chemicals to customers or other facilities. This includes selecting appropriate shipping methods, preparing shipping documents and customs declarations for international shipments, and ensuring compliance with transportation regulations.
• Waste Management : Managing the disposal of packaging materials and chemical waste generated during packaging processes. This may involve recycling or proper disposal of packaging materials, as well as coordinating the disposal of hazardous waste in compliance with environmental regulations.
• Supplier Relations : Maintaining relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of packaging materials and chemicals, as well as resolving any issues related to product quality, packaging, or delivery schedules.
• Continuous Improvement : Identifying opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and efficiency enhancements in the storage and packaging operations. This could involve implementing new technologies, optimizing workflows, or streamlining inventory management systems.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, Business Administration, or related field.
• Knowledge of research and laboratory chemicals, scientific applications, and laboratory protocols.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ERP software.
