Position Title: Store In-Charge

Department: Stores and Logistics

Job Purpose:

The Store In-Charge is responsible for managing the stores and materials related to the execution of the DDUGJY/RGGVY/IPDS/HVDS/BRGF/RDSS projects. This includes ensuring the proper receipt, storage, handling, issue, and distribution of materials, ensuring inventory control, and maintaining accurate records. The role ensures that all project materials are available in a timely manner and are in good condition, thereby supporting the smooth execution of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

• Material Management:
• Oversee the receipt, storage, and proper organization of materials related to electrical infrastructure projects under DDUGJY, RGGVY, IPDS, HVDS, BRGF, and RDSS.
• Ensure materials are properly stacked, labeled, and stored to avoid damage or loss.
• Maintain accurate inventory records for all materials, and regularly update stock levels.
• Inventory Control:
• Maintain a systematic and accurate inventory of materials in the store.
• Ensure proper stock levels to meet project needs and avoid delays.
• Conduct periodic stock audits and reconciliation of physical stock with records.
• Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) or other effective inventory practices.
• Procurement Support:
• Coordinate with procurement and project management teams to ensure timely delivery of materials as per project schedules.
• Monitor material consumption and inform procurement teams for timely reordering.
• Issue and Distribution:
• Ensure the proper issue of materials to various project teams as per the requirements.
• Prepare issue vouchers, material requisitions, and other necessary documents.
• Maintain a proper record of materials issued and ensure traceability of all items.
• Stock Management:
• Regularly review the stock levels to identify slow-moving or obsolete items and take corrective actions.
• Ensure safe handling of all materials, particularly fragile or hazardous items.
• Maintain and report on stock levels, and make recommendations to management for efficient stock management.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain detailed and accurate records for all materials received, stored, and issued.
• Ensure compliance with all project reporting requirements, including regular updates on material availability and inventory status.
• Generate reports on stock levels, material usage, and other relevant metrics for management review.
• Safety and Compliance:
• Ensure the storage and handling of materials are in compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Implement safety protocols to avoid accidents, including fire safety, electrical safety, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ensure the store is well-organized, clean, and free from hazards.
• Coordination with Site Teams:
• Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, and other team members to ensure the timely supply of materials to work sites.
• Act as a liaison between the stores and the field teams to address material-related concerns and issues.
• Team Management:
• Supervise store assistants, inventory clerks, and other staff in the stores department.
• Provide training and guidance on best practices for inventory management, material handling, and safety.
• Other Responsibilities:
• Undertake any other duties as assigned by management related to the efficient running of the project.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• Educational Qualification:
• A diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related fields.
• Additional qualifications in Supply Chain Management or Material Management are an advantage.
• Experience:
• Minimum 5-15 years of experience in store management, preferably in large infrastructure projects.
• Experience in handling electrical materials, cables, transformers, meters, and other related items.
• Skills:
• Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
• Proficient in the use of inventory management software and tools.
• Knowledge of safety standards and practices related to material handling and storage.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for coordination with various teams.
• Good Command over Excel.
• Knowledge in ERP is an added advantage.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
