Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our engineering team as a Store Assistant. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency of our engineering operations by managing inventory, distributing materials, and supporting overall logistical needs. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and a passion for ensuring that materials and supplies are readily available for engineering projects.
Responsibilities:
• Inventory Management:
• Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and transactions using designated software or tools.
• Conduct regular audits to ensure stock levels are adequate and identify discrepancies or shortages.
• Coordinate with purchasing department to replenish stock as needed.
• Material Handling and Distribution:
• Receive incoming materials and verify against invoices or packing slips.
• Organize and store materials in designated storage areas.
• Prepare materials for distribution to engineering staff according to project requirements.
• Logistical Support:
• Assist in shipping and receiving activities, including packing, labeling, and preparing shipments.
• Coordinate with external vendors and carriers for timely deliveries and pickups.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the storage and work areas.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Generate reports on inventory levels, usage, and discrepancies as required.
• Keep records of all incoming and outgoing materials and supplies.
• Assist in maintaining documentation related to safety and compliance standards.
• Team Collaboration:
• Work closely with engineers and project managers to understand material requirements for ongoing and upcoming projects.
• Provide support during peak times or urgent material needs to ensure continuity of operations.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional qualifications in logistics or engineering will be a plus.
• Proven experience as a store assistant, inventory clerk, or similar role, preferably in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Familiarity with inventory management software and systems.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and operate material handling equipment.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
