The Restaurant Steward plays a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and efficiency in the restaurant\'s kitchen and dining areas. This position involves a combination of dishwashing, equipment maintenance, and general support to the kitchen and service staff. The Restaurant Steward is responsible for ensuring a clean and well-organized environment to contribute to a positive dining experience for guests. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate industrial dishwashing equipment to clean dishes, utensils, pots, and pans.
- Ensure all items are properly sanitized and stored according to health and safety regulations.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness in dishwashing and kitchen areas.
- Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks as needed.
- Collect and dispose of kitchen waste and trash.
- Keep kitchen floors, countertops, and other surfaces clean and sanitized.
- Regularly clean and maintain kitchen equipment, including dishwashing machines, ovens, and food preparation surfaces.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
- Keep track of dishware, glassware, and kitchen supplies inventory.
- Notify management when supplies are running low and assist with restocking.
- Work closely with kitchen and service staff to ensure smooth operation and communication.
- Assist in coordinating the flow of dishes and utensils between the kitchen and service areas.
- Follow all health and safety regulations and guidelines.
- Report any safety hazards or incidents to management promptly.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a similar role is a plus.
- Knowledge of proper sanitation and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
