The Senior Steward is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of stewards to ensure the kitchen and dining areas are maintained in a clean, sanitary, and orderly manner. This role involves managing inventory, maintaining hygiene standards, and ensuring the smooth operation of the dishwashing and kitchen support services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervision and Leadership:
• Lead, train, and supervise the stewarding team.
• Schedule shifts and assign tasks to ensure adequate coverage.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
• Foster a positive and productive work environment.
• Sanitation and Cleanliness:
• Ensure all kitchen equipment, utensils, and areas are clean, sanitized, and well-maintained.
• Oversee the proper handling and disposal of waste and recyclables.
• Implement and enforce hygiene and sanitation standards as per health and safety regulations.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with cleanliness standards.
• Inventory and Supplies:
• Monitor and maintain inventory levels of cleaning supplies and kitchen equipment.
• Place orders for necessary supplies and equipment in a timely manner.
• Ensure proper storage and labeling of chemicals and cleaning agents.
• Equipment Maintenance:
• Coordinate with the maintenance department for the repair and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
• Ensure all equipment is in good working condition and report any malfunctions immediately.
• Training and Development:
• Train new stewards on cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and equipment use.
• Develop and update training materials and procedures.
• Conduct regular training sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge of the team.
• Safety and Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Conduct regular safety drills and meetings.
• Maintain accurate records of cleaning schedules, inspections, and safety checks.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with the culinary and service teams to ensure seamless operations.
• Communicate effectively with team members, management, and other departments.
• Address and resolve any issues or concerns promptly and efficiently.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality management or related field is a plus.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a stewarding or similar role, with at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity.
• Strong knowledge of sanitation and hygiene standards.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods.
Working Conditions:

• Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
