A Hotel Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in the kitchen and dining areas. This role involves washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, as well as assisting in food preparation and storage. The steward ensures that all health and safety regulations are followed and that the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
• Dishwashing and Cleaning:
• Wash and sanitize dishes, silverware, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils.
• Ensure all kitchen equipment is clean and in good working condition.
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, including floors, counters, and surfaces.
• Kitchen Support:
• Assist chefs and kitchen staff with food preparation and plating.
• Prepare ingredients for meals, including washing, peeling, and chopping.
• Organize and store food items according to proper food safety standards.
• Inventory and Supplies:
• Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors of shortages.
• Receive and store deliveries, ensuring items are stored correctly and safely.
• Assist in the rotation of stock to maintain freshness and reduce waste.
• Health and Safety Compliance:
• Adhere to health and safety regulations, including food safety standards.
• Properly handle and dispose of waste and recycling materials.
• Report any maintenance or safety issues to management promptly.
• Customer Service:
• Occasionally assist with setting up and clearing dining areas.
• Provide courteous and prompt service to guests as needed.
• Team Collaboration:
• Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and other hotel departments.
• Attend training sessions and staff meetings as required.
• Assist in other areas of the kitchen or hotel as directed by supervisors.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous but not required.
• Skills:
• Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and equipment.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Good physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy items.

Working Conditions:
