Job Title: Steward

Key Responsibilities:

• Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, and other kitchen utensils.
• Ensure all kitchen equipment and areas (floors, walls, counters) are sanitized and maintained.
• Operate dishwashing machines and handwash as necessary.
• Clean and maintain storage areas for kitchen supplies and dishes.
• Dispose of trash and waste in an appropriate and timely manner.
• Ensure that the kitchen and dining areas are free from food waste or other hazards.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen appliances, ensuring they are cleaned and in good working order.
• Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor.
• Assist in inventory management of kitchen supplies, including restocking and organizing cleaning products, utensils, and other necessary items.
• Monitor and report inventory needs to ensure no shortages in supplies.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Ensure that food safety protocols (temperature, cleanliness, storage) are adhered to during food prep and service.
• Assist in setting up dining areas, including laying out utensils, napkins, and glassware.
• Help with breaking down the setup after meals, ensuring everything is cleaned and properly stored.
• Work with kitchen staff, servers, and other team members to ensure smooth operation.
• Assist other staff members as needed, ensuring an efficient workflow.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Prior experience in a kitchen or food service environment preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to follow safety and cleaning protocols.
• Good communication skills to collaborate with team members.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy items when needed.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) as required.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and walking.

Work Environment:

• Kitchen, dining, and storage areas, typically in a busy, fast-paced environment.
• May involve working evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on the establishment.
