  • The WPB IT COO function ensures strong oversight and control of Operational disciplines: finance, workforce management, vendor, and governance. Stakeholder management at Tech CIO, CTO, Value Stream leads and Regional teams (both tech and business).The WPB IT COO Delivery Lead role will report into the WPB IT Head of Cost & Commercial and is a critical role that will partner with the WPB IT India senior management team that are accountable for business services to provide oversight and support for all IT strategic planning, project delivery, finance, operational risk and support activities.
  • Collaborate with the WPB IT India leadership and all verticals of the technology centre to develop and execute strategic initiatives aligned with the WPB IT goals and objectives.Build strong & effective relationships across a complex and senior stakeholder framework including Head of WPB Tech India, Senior WPB Tech India team, Senior Tech COO & GBGF COO teams
  • Leading the WPB IT Cost & Commercial team as entity manager. Develop and have oversight of transparent reporting and management of key financial metrics. for WPB IT India - Directs, Charges & Charges to the business.Creating and driving activities related to workforce transformation: perm cap management, hiring, capacity utilisation / rightsizing, right talent right place. Drive all aspects of the WPB IT Indias people agenda and strategy, including Talent Management; Inclusion; governance, co-ordination and execution.
  • Manage the centres execution of the headcount plan at country level and report targets / forecasts / actuals by using data to generate informative executive level reporting in MS Excel and other HSBC tools. Vendor Management: Coordinate with vendor management team & relationship manager to ensure value for the money. Support weekly leadership meeting agendas, Townhalls, Quarterly Business Reviews, coordinate with engineering teams to implement best practices across GB/GF.Business continuity planning covering critical resources, projects along with infrastructure and location strategy
  • Provide leadership and direction to IT delivery teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and continues improvement. Mentor and develop teams members to enhance their skills and capabilities, Identifies mobility opportunities across the combined cost and commercial and business management population
  • Constructively challenges the BAU status quo, to drive outcomes that improve efficiency and/or create growth. Drives quick decisions based on available data and input. Engage with functional stakeholders (e.g. Human Resources, Vendor Management, Recruitment), to ensure alignment and progression against WPB IT India plans
  • Stakeholders, Leadership & Teamwork : Create excellent working relationship with the stakeholders of this job holder: WPB IT India team, WPB IT Cost and Commercial team, WPB IT Business Management team and Central Tech team; VS and SVS leads; Platform CTOs; WPB IT Transformation team. Cultivate an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand
  • Operational Effectiveness & Control : Support the Head of WPB IT India to drive strong culture of compliance and governance across the teams in India. Ensure HSBC is not put at any operational or reputational risk. Ensure WPB IT India teams goals, objectives and key performance indicators are identified, communicated, agreed and implemented

  • Demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators. Role Dimensions (e.g. balance sheet size, lending/expenditure limits, size/volume of transactions, budget)
  • Lead and drive all strategic, operational, financial, business management and people aspects of WPB IT agenda from both a BAU and strategic perspective.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
  • 15 + years professional experience in a large Global organization preferably in an IT department or shared service organization
  • Experience in COO /Cost and Commercial/ Business Management/ Human Resources function with multinational organizations
  • Some project management experience with strong track record of successfully implementing large scale change programmes
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, Proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely and in clear language
  • Deep understanding of HSBC structures, processes and objectives, particularly in the business management field
  • Proven ability in managing and coordinating geographically dispersed teams
  • Knowledge of Engineering will be an added advantage
  • Proven track record in business / project financials
  • Proven stakeholder management / Relationship Management
  • Excellent analytical skill, a passion for metrics and figures, and the ability to get into the details, while also seeing and understanding the big picture
  • Experience of working on a global scale (i.e. across time zone & geography and with remote teams)
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently, under pressure and proactively in a fast paced environment with multiple deadlines
  • Ability to take on the work with minimum guidance and lead as own initiatives
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Positive, proactive and can-do attitude.Strong Excel skills
