Join our team and find out how Visa is everywhere you want to be.POSITION SUMMARYThis Staff Systems Engineer position is within the Storage Engineering Team and falls under Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). This position will evaluate, design, build, test, and document new storage and backup infrastructure, as well as serve as a Level 3 escalation point for existing infrastructure. This position is part of the Global Storage organization and is therefore required to collaborate with Engineers across global time-zones in a follow-the-sun model. This position is expected to interact with Operations, Product Development, Technology Business Management, Audit and Compliance, and various groups within Operations & Infrastructure.This role must have strong communication and analytical skills, and prior experience in driving process improvements. This role should be able to mentor other team members and function as the technology lead on key infrastructure initiatives. This role is expected to participate in devising the technology strategy and engineering standards for Visa\'s Storage infrastructure.RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for the design, implementation, security and availability of Storage, Backups and SAN infrastructure, based on business requirements while adhering to tight operations, security, and procedural models.
• Responsible for complex provisioning, advanced maintenance, data replication, disaster recovery, data migration and documentation for our Open Systems Storage and Backup environments
• Demonstrate a high level of technical expertise to support complex Storage & Backup devices, including SAN, NAS, Object and Backup solutions across all tiers, under minimal supervision.
• Operate in complex, highly secure, highly available, operations-centric datacenter environments and interact with other technology domain experts as required, to build and maintain the Open Systems Storage and Backups solutions in those datacenter environments.
• Assist in security remediation of known vulnerabilities for Storage ecosystem.
• Function as the Storage lead on key infrastructure projects and initiatives
• Write technical design and build documentation for storage infrastructure.
• Develop ITIL procedures, engineering standards, methodologies, task-plans, and best practices for Storage Engineering
• Work with other Operations & Infrastructure disciplines to develop technology standards based on Infrastructure Building Blocks, that can be offered as hybrid cloud services to our internal customers.
• Mentor junior team members.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needsQualificationsREQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor\'s degree in computer science/engineering or related field is

preferred.

• Six or more years of solid experience working in SAN/Storage/Backup

Administration

• Experience working in large, complex, enterprise datacenter environments.
• Expert knowledge in designing, deploying, and supporting Open Systems,

Enterprise SAN, NAS, Object and Backup solutions in a hybrid cloud model.

• Extensive storage networking background is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of OS fundamentals for Linux and/or Microsoft platforms
• Strong knowledge of virtualization and/or container technologies and

products from VMware, RedHat or Microsoft.

• Hands-on experience with AFA SAN arrays e.g. DELL, EMC, PowerMax, or

Hitachi VSP

• Hands-on experience with FC or IP networking e.g. Brocade or Cisco
• Hands-on experience with NAS arrays e.g. DELL, EMC, PowerScale, or

PureStorage, FlashBlade

• Hands-on experience with Object storage e.g. DELL, EMC, ECS, or

PureStorage, FlashBladeeritas NetBackup or DELL, EMC, DataDomain.Experience with Container Storage Interface (CSI) Driver for Kubernetes is preferred

• Experience with Disaster Recovery as it relates to storage systems and data

recovery techniques e.g. data replication and snapshots.

• Ability to write technical design and build documentation for all aspects of

Storage and Backup infrastructure.

• Expert analysis and troubleshooting skills for the end-to-end storage and

backup stack (VMs, K8, hosts, SAN, NAS, Object Storage & Backup devices)

• Experience in system monitoring tools and techniques for supporting SAN,

NAS, Object and Backup operations, alerting and remediation.

• Scripting proficiency in both Windows and Linux environments
• Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong inter-personal

skills

• Demonstrated ability to rapidly self-learn new technologies and paradigms.
