Our applications cover the entire breadth of the media supply chain, from idea to distribution. We have a robust global community of thousands of internal Warner Bros Discovery users who rely on our apps every day to get television produced, on the air, and onto Max.Purpose of the Role:A Staff Engineer works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Plays a leading role within the team to design and implement major functional changes to existing or new software systems and executes sound judgement on when to build new solutions and when to extend existing solutions. Leads collaboratively and shares their knowledge to help other engineers and team members to be more productive. Can communicate complicated concepts simply. A Staff Engineer's work is exemplary, and they are a role model for their team, driving the team's best practices and setting the standards for quality. Their software contributions in production are the model for highly available, low latency, and efficient software. Documentation in code, on technical designs, and operations provide clarity to any engineer interacting with their software. A Staff Engineer coaches and mentors up to Sr. Software Engineer level and provides input to leadership on development needs and growth opportunities for team members.Roles & Responsibilities:

• Plays a key role in overseeing the technical aspects of our projects, from conception to delivery. Will be responsible for ensuring that our projects are completed on time and to the required quality standards and company policy. Will work closely with our team of developers, designers, and project managers to deliver successful solutions that meet our clients\' needs.
• Responsible for defining and implementing technical architecture and design, and for ensuring that code is developed to the highest standards. They will review and approve technical designs, code, and test plans, and will identify and manage technical risks and issues, providing solutions to mitigate them.
• Be a hands-on leader, managing and mentoring a team of developers. Will be responsible for providing technical guidance and support to the team, and for ensuring that development best practices are followed. They will lead by example, demonstrating their expertise in one or more programming languages and web development frameworks, and will work collaboratively with the team to resolve technical challenges.
• The ability to work well with others is a critical requirement for this position, and the ideal candidate should be proactive in seeking out opportunities for collaboration with teams and partners. Collaboration is key to our success, so we require someone who is excited about partnering with other teams and stakeholders to achieve our goals.

• Build application service layers and UIs to support Warner Bros Discoverys content supply chain
• design and development of entire systems within the supply chain. Build architectural diagrams that communicate what we need to build and how we need to build it.
• Describe and defend your design and code decisions to other engineers, embrace constructive feedback, and adapt your approach to align with team and company standards and objectives.
• Offer enhancements to best practices, document, design, and architecture improvements, and as feedback through code reviews to other engineers without continuous prompting or recurring encouragement. Other engineers appreciate your feedback.
• Troubleshoot a production issue by reviewing source code, logs, operational metrics, stack trace etc. to pinpoint a specific problem and then resolve it.
• Write comprehensive unit tests and perform thorough testing of your own software.
• Configure and manage infrastructure as necessary for project development.
• Participate in after-hours support rotations, being available for urgent issues on a scheduled basis.

What to Bring:

• 10+ years of experience as a software developer - full stack
• Experience with event driven architecture or asynchronous messaging services
• Experience developing Single Page Applications with a modern UI framework
• Experience building web applications in MERN (Mongo, Express, React and Nodejs), MEAN (Mongo, Express, Angular and Nodejs) or Java Spring Boot

• Expertise building web applications in Java Spring Boot.
• Experience in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure)

• Broad knowledge and experience in proficient understanding of relational databases (Ie., Oracle / SQL Server / MySQL / NoSQL)
• You have a proven track record of designing and building applications. Domain experience in building for media workflows, media catalogs, and asset registries would be a plus.
• Experience using Docker, Kubernetes or rkt.
• Experience in DevOps (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Bamboo, Travis for CI/CD).
• Experience working and delivering in an Agile Scrum environment.
• You are an effective communicator, demonstrating this in your discussions with the team and stakeholders and through your documentation.
• You solve business problems with simple and straightforward solutions, applying appropriate technologies and software engineering best practices.
• You deliver high-quality results the first time and improve code, documentation, and results with each iteration. Your team trusts your work.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Ability to articulate thoughts clearly and ask questions proactively when needed.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative team player.
